  1. I have a beautiful large Acer tree which has been in fine health. But last year it began to struggle - I have added a picture of how it used to be and one of how it is now It has been here long before we arrived. We have been here since 2009. The growth used to be very luscious. Now it is thinning and struggling. We are on chalk - I have been giving it some ericaceous feed plus some ericaceous compost but I don’t this has helped. The thinning is mainly on the top of the tree. Growth lower down is healthy I’m wondering whether to give it a good feed of blood fish and bone - and a good prune on top now whilst winter is still with us. Any advice most welcome. Thank you
