Our client is a medium sized arboricultural contractor based on the outskirts of west London. They have been trading since 2001 and have an established client base consisting of commercial and domestic clients, including several large social landlords as well as prestigious central London estates/squares. The work for the Housing Associations includes a complete tree management service; involving mapping and surveying the tree stock and then specifying remedial works as part of a cyclical programme undertaken over a number of years. After nearly ten years of service the current Manager is leaving to work for himself and the company is looking to recruit a replacement.

The role is a varied and interesting position involving a mix of management, technical and hands on functions:

1. Management:

Oversee two teams of staff; issuing and organising day to day work,

Management of a fleet of four work vehicles and associated plant and machinery,

Administrative duties such as H&S paperwork and financial reporting,

Upkeep of an office and yard facility including disposal of green waste,

Pricing and quoting for work; client liaison and site meetings,

2. Technical:

Undertake large tree surveys; specifying and prioritising works,

Undertake ad-hoc safety inspections,

3. Practical:

Duties will include climbing as part of a work team for 2-3 days per week,

Undertake stump grinding and other follow up works,

Collecting/delivering plant and equipment, materials, hand tools and/or PPE,

A full Job Description is available from the office by request.

Candidates should have as a minimum Team Leader experience and associated NPTC climbing and chainsaw qualifications. For the technical part of the role a Level 3 qualification in Arboriculture is essential. For those candidates who do not have a higher level qualification we would provide further training. Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, clients and peers are important requirements of the role. They also expect candidates to be IT literate since the use of computerised tree management and mapping software is part of the job.

In return they are offering a salary package of £30,000 - £34,000 plus company vehicle, paid annual leave and extensive CPD/training.
