CTC Recruitment

Recommended Posts

A temporary 6 month opportunity for arboricultural or landscape officer has arisen to cover maternity leave in Kent. This role is fundamental to supporting both the Landscape Management and Arboriculture elements of the team along with working closely with our highways operations colleagues. Although primarily office based there will also be a requirement to undertake some work in the field.

This position would suit an arborist who is looking to gain technical experience in the public sector; candidates may be studying for a level 3 qualification or already have one. It may be an arborist who wants to give up climbing but still work within the industry in a non hands on role while considering under taking further training or qualifications.

The main part of the role you will be require you to review new enquires received by the Soft Landscape team through the WAMS/ Confirm system and where possible resolve at first point of contact which will involve follow up calls with members of the public. A collaborative working approach will be required with other teams across the highways, transportation and waste directorate to resolve enquiries. There is also a requirement for general administrative duties which will include managing email accounts, preparing meeting minutes, works ordering, managing incoming enquiries for first point resolution (data cleansing) and providing procurement support for the team.

As you may be required to undertake site visits from time to time you will need to hold a valid driving licence. Access to a KCC fiesta van will be provided. Site visits will involve contract monitoring of urban grass cutting contracts and tree works. There may also be a requirement for customer enquiries to be followed up with site inspections. Knowledge of iProcurement, Oracle, WAMS/ Confirm would be desirable but it is not essential as training can be provided. An interest in the soft landscape would also be beneficial.

Ideally the successful candidate will be able to provide support to teams within the Ashford and Aylesford depots. We are therefore looking for someone that can work out of both offices on alternate days of the week. The hours of work are 9am -5pm/ 7.5 hours per day to fall in line with the normal working hours of the rest of highways. However, hours and days of work are flexible and dependant on workload and the business need. The salary is based on a KR6 pay scale and starts at approximately £10 per hour.
