Salary: £11,113.80 to £19,938.60 plus £1122.60 LW

 

Our client is looking to recruit a Lecturer in Arboriculture to be based at Crystal Palace. It is a part time post for 3 days per week. The days of the week to be worked currently are Monday – Wednesday.

 

Capel Manor College is the leading land based college in London and we are looking to appoint a person who will lead our arboriculture lectures and instruction in Crystal Palace Park. The candidate we are looking for will have a passion for tree surgery and the science behind arboriculture and is happy to get stuck in and help out on administrative tasks.

 

About the College

 

Capel Manor College in Greater London, is a vocational college delivering courses in Arboriculture and Countryside, Animal Care and Saddlery, Floristry and Balloon Artistry, Garden Design and Horticulture.

 

Key Duties:

 

• Participate in the teaching, administration and assessment of arboriculture courses offered by the College (to include its centres in North, East and Central London as appropriate) and assisting with the Quality Assurance (QA) process.

• Co-ordinate in conjunction with the Deputy and Head of School, Arboriculture and Countryside the practical elements of course provision e.g. acquiring work sites, transport of students equipment and providing materials.

• Undertake course management as required, prepare work schedules, manage VLE pages, co-ordinate assessment procedures and prepare course reports and statistics as required by the College as part of the quality assurance programme and maintain student records and course files including up-to-date schemes of work.

• Assist in the development and establishment of flexi-study and Distance/Open Learning courses as appropriate.

• Participate in the development, organisation and delivery of new educational and curricular initiatives undertaken by the College as appropriate.

Essential Criteria:

 

• Minimum of 1 year industrial experience.

• Level 3 Diploma in Arboriculture or related award (minimum).

• Teaching qualification (support will be given to gain accreditation).

• Assessor awards (training will be provided to achieve these).

• Effective communication and organisation skills.

• Sound administrative skills.

• To work on own initiative as well as part of a team.

• To be able to instruct and assess practical skills in arboriculture.

 

Start date: ASAP

Closing date: 18.09.14
