Shade tolerance of hazel to coppicing

Thanks for the advice.

 

Piling brash is a no-no as it just creates habitat for buns.

 

We plan to protect cut stools with 2" weldmesh panels situate at least 1m from the stool. Relatively cheap but effective, as used on some alder coppice with top results.

 

So I glean from the replies....thanks again, cut low, protect and remove as much canopy as practical.

 

Off we go......................
