Peripatetic Lecturer in Arboriculture-Primarily Trees & Timber Apprenticeship

Salary: £18,523 - £33,231 plus £1,871 (if qualified)

 

Capel Manor College are looking to recruit a Lecturer in Arboriculture-Primarily Trees & Timber Apprenticeship.

 

The vacancy is full time & peripatetic but will focus on our sites at Crystal Palace and Horsenden in West London in the first instance.

 

About the College

 

Capel Manor College in Greater London, is a vocational college delivering Arboriculture and Countryside, Animal Care and Saddlery, Floristry and Balloon Artistry, Garden Design and Horticulture.

 

Key Duties:

 

• Participate in the teaching, administration and assessment of arboriculture courses offered by the College.

• Co-ordinate practical elements of course provision.

• Undertake course management as required, prepare work schedules, co-ordinate assessment procedures and prepare course reports and statistics as required by the College.

• Developing and teaching apprenticeship/short courses to meet the needs of employers.

• Assist in the development and establishment of flexi-study and Distance/Open Learning courses.

• Participate in the development, organisation and delivery of new educational and curricular initiatives undertaken by the College as appropriate.

• Working within prescribed budgets.

• Maintain an up-to-date catalogue of schemes of work and lesson plans for each course.

• Prepare a work schedule for students and co-ordinate all assessment procedures.

• Liaise as necessary with the appropriate Course Manager concerning individual student progress and development.

Essential Criteria:

 

• Experience of working in or with the Arboriculture & Countryside industrial.

• Experience of inspecting/surveying trees.

• Proven experience in supervision and motivation of people.

• National Diploma in Arboriculture or related award (minimum).

• Teaching qualification (or working towards).

• Assessor awards (training will be provided to achieve these).

• Familiarity with ILT applications.

• Well organised and able to manage and organise self and others effectively to meet deadlines.

• Excellent administrative skills.

• Ability to work on own initiative within agreed strategic guidelines.

• High degree of personal presentation and customer care skills.

• An understanding of and commitment to Diversity & Equality as it applies to a supportive service and in the workplace.

• An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment.

• A clean driving licence with category D1/E1.

 

Hours: 36 per week

 

Start date: ASAP

 

Closing date: 03.02.14
