Are you mixing at 50 parts to 1, i.e. 20mls to a litre, or 50mls to a litre which would actually be 20 parts to one.

 

Forgive me if you think i'm making you out to be a thicko, i'm not, but it's not an uncommon fault for those who don't work with this stuff on a very regular basis, and the symptoms are classic.

 

Hi I have a one shot container which I ve saved and when mixing I refill that with two stroke to a five litre of petrol .I ve never had any problems with any other saws I use with the Stihl 290 at work or my Makita at home.

I'm using either the small bottles which are to be mixed with a gallon or a 2 & 1/2 gallon container. I haven't measured what amount is in them. We in the US don't use imperial quarts.
