Stihl 044 carb problem

Hello, i am new on here. Ive tried everything to fix my 044 but can't think of anything else so thort i would join up and ask. Its the 044 with screw filler caps. It runs for 1min and rev and cuts really good, then i splutters and dies, then you can't start it again, its a real pain on jobs. I split it down and checked all the seals and compression tested the casing to check for leaks and cracks. Now ive been told the carb is bugged. Its the welbro with the small dog leg pipe at the bottom. I had a look on the internet and rang places up and the carb seems to be a discotinued part and the new zama carb looks like it wont fit. Will it?? I could really do with some help, if anyone knows where i could get a 044 welbro carb or if someone has replaced theres with a zama or other make carb let me know which and how.
