Work-Based Assessor (Trees and Timber Apprenticeship programme)

Salary is £12,299 to £16,507 plus £1,029 LW.

 

Peripatetic but the base site can be flexible at either Enfield, Crystal Palace or Horsenden.

Vacancy is for 3 days a week- days of the week to be worked are flexible.

 

Our client requires a Work-Based Assessor to undertake the work based training and assessment of trainees’ theory and practical abilities for the Trees and Timber apprenticeship programme.

 

About the College

 

Capel Manor College in Greater London, is a vocational college delivering Arboriculture and Countryside, Animal Care and Saddlery, Floristry and Balloon Artistry, Garden Design and Horticulture.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Interview prospective students to identify the appropriate training pathway whilst identifying any organisational training needs.

• Visiting trainees’ workplaces to ensure that the employer meets the course and health and safety requirements.

• Liaising with trainees and responding to their individual demands and needs.

• Exercising flexibility in responding to employer requests and responding to employers rapidly changing priorities to provide a responsive

• Providing work based trainees and their employers with feedback from assessment and training plans.

• Liaising with tutors to ensure all aspects of the apprenticeship framework are being delivered for a timely success.

• Organising and participating in regular reviews between individual employers and trainees.

• Ensuring that all paperwork is accurate and up to date, keeping comprehensive records of reviews, sharing information with all parties in line with contractual requirements

• Ensure that all electronic tracking systems are kept up to date, in particular Frame Up.

• Supporting trainees to understand and address personal issues, situations or barriers and encouraging them to continue in learning.

• Attending course and or team meetings giving written and verbal feedback on trainee progression, programme developments and contributing to the quality assurance procedures.

• Develop good employer relations with the view to obtaining repeat and new business.

• Comply with all Employer Services policies and procedures whilst helping to deliver the Employer Services Plan.

• Actively promoting equality and diversity in the work place.

• Monitoring health and safety procedures in the work place.

• Assisting in overseeing the general welfare of students and to report any matter of concern affecting an individual or group of students to college managers.

• Any other duties of a comparable nature as required by college managers.

 

 

 

Experience/special knowledge/job requirements

 

• Minimum of three years’ recent arboriculture industry experience.

• Minimum of a Level 3 Academic Qualification in Arboriculture

• NPTC Certificates of Competence - CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39

• Effective communication and organisational skills

• Driving License B1 (Car)

• Sound administrative skills

• Competent IT use

• Clean driving licence & access to a vehicle

• Ability to work under pressure

• Mature and calm approach to work

• Friendly but persuasive

• Ability to schedule own appointments to meet targets and timescales

• To work on own initiative as well as part of a team

• An understanding of and commitment to Diversity & Equality as it applies to a supportive service and in the workplace.

• An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment

• Commitment to inclusive and comprehensive educational provision.

 

Hours: 3 days per week - flexible

 

Start date ASAP

 

Closing date 3.6.13
