The Wood Hobbits

It's one in the morning, and I'm tucked up in bed.

The wind is blowing the rain is beating down and there's a noise in my head.

Is that ringing just a dream, no it the phone beside my bed.

"Hello" is that you, yes it's me, oh that's good we've got a tree.

Can you attend, yes I can send me an email and we'll jump in the van.

Driving along through the night not sure what it will be when we get to site.

Is it a twig or a bloody great tree, who knows, but we won't be in bed by three.

Well here she is on the deck like a great beeched whale, better start the 660 and give the bugger hell.

There's so much brash and timber here it'll never go on one load, but fear not I think I can hear the wood hobbits coming down the road.

The wind's still blowing and it's lamping down with rain, but those wood hobbits with there single axle trailers don't give up in vain.

"Listen mate we're trying to work" it's fairly dangerous stuff, that tree pricked up on its limb could take your head clean off.

Off they scuttle behind the van now he's in my light, those bloody wood hobbits sure put up a fight.

It's starting to get light and I'm longing for my bed, the wind is still blowing and the hobbits by the hedge

A few more cuts and a quick blow up and then we'll head for home, load the van with fire wood I'm sure the lads won't moan.

But no sooner said than done we turn to make our leave, those bloody wood hobbits have buggered of with my tree.

Ahh we'll the road is open that's all that really matters but my phone has started to ring again, it's Atkins out of hours!
