About the College

 

Moulton is one of the UK’s leading specialist Colleges providing education and training in the natural, built and recreational environments, from pre-entry to Postgraduate degree level. Moulton has experienced unprecedented growth and development over the last decade and is now one of the largest specialist colleges in the UK, with around 5500 student FTEs, 800 staff and a turnover in excess of £28.5 million p.a. Main duties and responsibilities:

 

• To teach students attending full-time, part-time and short courses as directed by the Head of Faculty.

• To act as a course tutor to full-time and part-time groups with the associated recruitment, organisation, administration, and monitoring of attendance including the collection of data for course evaluation.

• To tutor other student and trainee groups including the maintenance of records of achievement and undertaking training visits.

• To counsel students and maintain discipline as required.

• To participate in the recruitment of students, including attendance at Shows and Careers Conventions.

• To interview applicants for Countryside Management and related courses.

• To monitor standards laid down for the delivery of Countryside Management and related courses including content, quality of delivery, assessment and verification, and client satisfaction.

• To maintain appropriate records for the Subject area as laid down from time to time by the Head of Faculty.

• To manage students and staff working at the college and elsewhere during routine practical, duties and occasional Open Days.

• To prepare lists and work rotas for practical activity and assist with the administration of the Subject area.

• To attend day and evening meetings, courses, etc. considered of benefit to the Division, the College and the individual.

• To promote the welfare of young people and vulnerable groups in all aspects of College life and to ensure safeguarding arrangements are adhered to at all times.

 

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

 

The person sought will have at least 3 years full-time teaching experience together with sound administrative skills. A formal teaching qualification is essential and a Graduate or Higher National level qualification will be a distinct advantage. A period of relevant industrial experience is a pre-requisite of appointment to this post.

 

Lecturing staff whose employment commences on or after September 1, 2001 are required to have upon commencement of employment, or to obtain within a specified period after commencement, certain teaching qualifications as specified by the Further Education Teachers’ Qualifications Regulations 2001 and the Further Education Teacher’s Qualifications Regulations 2007.
