Hedden - does anyone use it?

Just wondering, because it never seems to get a mention. Does anyone use a Hedden for a friction hitch? I've just been mucking about with one again, and it seems it would work well above a pulley (like the triple attachment DMM one) in some sort of 'hitchclimber' self-tending arrangement, with a short eye to eye.
