LPA mistake!

I was asked to price a job the other day so as usual I checked the LPA web site. No restrictions shown. Did a site visit, got the job, re-checked the site and then rang the LPA to confirm no restrictions. I was told its in a conservation area!

 

When I told them I was looking at the site whilst on the phone I was told their internal site shows a restriction but some how the external web site does not!

 

I was not happy! The question is if i had carried out the work on the information on the site would or could I be liable?

My LPA suggested prelim checks to be made on the website, but for confirmation to speak directly to them, as updating the website may be quite behind and out-of-date.

We don't have our TPO and CA info on our website (yet!) for that very reason!

 

Even our computer systems have discrepancies. We always check the original documents when there's a possibility of error.

My local TO made mistakes when they transferred paper maps to PC maps. I accidentally ( wrong info) felled a large Oak. Got off scott free but no apology offered for the stress.

Met the Tree Officer today, realy nice man! He explained the mistake was with the general planning office has he is the only person with any tree experience and is only in the office in the morning. Moral of the story, double check always! :wave:
