Rock venom vertical or horizontal only

Hi there I'm looking at buying a petrol log splitter. Fancied the 22t rock venom but have just noticed they have gone either vertical or horizontal only. Think this is a safety setup. Does anyone know if this can be modified out or are there any better alternatives I should look at? Thanks john
