Second Climber/ Landscape Gardener Job Description 

Payne & Ford is a high-end landscaping company based in West Sussex; we endeavour to create and develop beautiful, long-lasting gardens for our clients. With a portfolio encompassing intimate courtyards, contemporary townhouses, romantic cottage gardens and rambling countryside retreats we feel confident this is an exciting opportunity for an arborist  to join our team.

Skills:

Knowledge of horticulture; including knowledge of garden equipment/machinery

Knowledge of arboriculture principles and practices

Experience cutting hedges and knowledge of appropriate hedge pruning techniques and timings

Experience of identifying pests and diseases

Comprehensive understanding and practical knowledge of seasonal pruning

Excellent communication skills and personable manner

A strong sense of aesthetics with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to achieving high standards

Physically fit and comfortable working in all weathers and seasons

Current, Clean Driving Licence

Experience working in a similar role within the industry

 

Qualifications:

RHS Qualification

Level 2 Woodchipper

Level 2 Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting (CS30)

Level 2 Felling and Processing trees up to 380mm (CS31)

Level 3 Tree climbing and aerial rescue (CS38)

Level 3 Aerial cutting of trees (CS39)

Spray certificates (PA1 and PA6).

First Aid qualification

 

 

Responsibilities:

The suitable candidate’s responsibilities will involve implementation of planting plans to create and maintain high quality landscapes to a prestigious standard. Garden development to include but not limited to; hedge trimming, lawn maintenance and cultivation, strimming, pruning, topiary maintenance, garden pest and disease control. Support the Lead Climber with tree climbing and aerial operations, ground based tasks, inspections and maintenance of climbing equipment. To maintain a positive and pleasant work environment, ensuring high levels of organisational effectiveness, communication, and safety. Candidates will need to show they can problem solve, be adaptable and prioritise in an industry that is affected by changing weather, climate and trends.
