The role

The Utility Arboricultural Surveyor (UAS) is responsible for the electrical and arboricultural surveying and consenting of the combined voltage tree clearance programme. The UAS will issue a stream of surveyed and permissioned work to the Survey Manager (SM) using contract specific hand-held technology.

Key accountabilities

  • The surveying of an efficient combined voltage programme of tree clearance, within prescribed timescales
    To establish maximum economical tree clearances from all electrical equipment
  • Self-organise and submit surveyed and permissioned to SM. Ensuring 100% survey and consent completion prior to submitting work packs
  • Prescribe pruning and site tidy up in line with BS3998 2010 and complete each non-work site with informed recut estimation
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation pertaining to tree management in relation to power line clearance, including; Tree Preservation Orders, Conservation Area restrictions and European Protected Species
  • Landowner management including; arranging site specific access, planning future access in accordance to survey consent with SM, first point of contact complaint resolution
  • Ensure, through effective communication, and that all pertinent points agreed with landowners are recorded on digital consent forms and are fully briefed to and achievable by HV / LV Arboricultural Supervisors (HV / LVAS)
  • Completion of daily personal dynamic risk assessment and whereabouts reporting
  • Monitor and report to SM, all PPE and equipment requirements including daily vehicle checks
  • Liaise with Compliance Manager (CM) to facilitate proactive historic refusal turnaround to enhance network resilience
  • Ensure personal validation audit regime is completed monthly and reported to SM
  • Extensive travel throughout the North East of England and Yorkshire. (Vehicle provided)
  • Any additional relevant work deemed necessary by SM

Skills & experience

  • Full, current, valid driving licence
  • Qualified to Level 3 in Arboriculture
  • Hold NPTC UA5.1/2 and / or relevant client Authorisation Codes (OPM / DSR) is desirable
  • Computer literate
  • Proven experience in Arboricultural surveying
  • Working knowledge of BS3998 2010 and other relevant legislation
  • Practical Arboricultural experience
  • Team working
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Flexible
