City tree officer

Southampton City Council is seeking an enthusiastic well-motivated person managing all aspects of arboriculture in Southampton.

 

 

Based in Southampton City centre, our dynamic tree team deals with all aspects of arboriculture, including: inspection, preservation, management and maintenance of the city’s tree stock; working with our in-house tree surgery team to arrange works; advising our planning department and contributing to our tree-planting programme. You will work across a variety of sites including the city’s parks, highways, open spaces and housing land. The jobs is varied and challenging.

 

 

You must have a recognised arboricultural qualification equivalent to the national qualification framework level 4. Previous experience as a local authority tree officer with a good knowledge of current planning law and regulatory issues such as TPOs, Conservation Areas and Development Control design advice is also essential. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is also essential to carry out the role.
