Our client is a large national engineering provider set up in 2003 as a joint venture by three large plcs to win motorway network and other highway contracts. They currently have awards worth hundreds of millions of pounds. The company is able to provide planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of motorways and trunk roads. Part of the contracts involves the management of the green infra-structure associated with these networks and specifically the associated tree stock.

As a consequence they are looking to employ an Environmental Steward to work with the Horticultural Manager in delivering landscape enhancement works. This is a varied and interesting role that will involve working as part of a team of environmental professionals; with specific responsibility for:

1. Undertake environmental assessment for future highway improvement and renewal schemes,

2. Attend site and other project meetings; providing environmental advice and guidance,

4. Undertake scheme design in line with company procedures,

5. Deal with Customer Care enquiries,

The suitable candidate will hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in horticultural or related subject. Previous experience of landscape design and landscape maintenance; ideally adjacent to or near highways is desirable. A full driving licence is essential.

Initially on a temporary three month contract they will be looking to pay in the range of £12.00 - £16.00 per hour depending on knowledge and experience. This post will then go permanent for the right candidate and a salary of between £22 and £30k pa with 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a pension and CPD.
