  3. Well our Ducker just fell off the front of the mog! Two bolts sheared and luckily the other two just bent, so the hopper just skidded along the road a bit. Could have been very nasty... Managed to lift it back up with the valtra and then hold it in place with a ratchet strap to limp home.. if the front had dug in and broke the other two bolts it would have gone right under the mog, I shudder to think of the damage that might have done...
  4. I used to have my own successful tree surgery company for 17 years which I ceased in 2015. I have a Unimog 2450 front mounted chipper with a 30cm aperture and a variable tracked 190 Timberwolf and I am thinking of starting an operated chipper hire company. Is this something you would use on a semi regular basis? I am fully ticketed and experienced including UA5 and based in Ashford, Kent. Suggested day manned rates are £585 for the Unimog and £170 for the Timberwolf, approximately. I would really appreciate feedback on whether you would use this service and whether you think the day rates are fair. Cheers, Chris.
  5. We are looking for an experienced mechanic. Knowledge of Unimog would be great but not essential, a good knowledge of mechanics is essential. Good work ethic, interested in large machinery and an eye for detail. The latter is very important. AC Price Engineering Ltd are a forward thinking, team orientated, busy engineering and mechanical workshop which has lots of interesting projects all year round. Join a very good team including Mechanics, Fabricators, Designers and support staff. We're a multi franchise dealership, including Mercedes Benz, Valtra, Heizohack, Penz, Kronos and other high quality brands, there are always interesting projects to be involved with and have an input in. We are keen on continual staff development and training is provided where needed. We are building a new dedicated Mercedes Benz service centre which will be fully operational this year, all being well. We are based in Ingleton which is in the Yorkshire dales and only a 20 minute drive from the Lake district. It’s a beautiful area to work in or even relocate to. There are also very good local schools if required. If you’d like to call to talk about the role and get a bit more detail then please contact Martyn Fawcett on 015242 42333. You can email your CV (or just some detail about yourself) to [email protected]. Salary is negotiable dependent on experience.
  6. We have an opportunity in our parts department for a new menber of staff. Lots of Unimog parts to sort, new and old also lots of chipper and crane parts. Part time or full time. 7. Hey lads , anyone know or have any mogs or complete set ups for sale ? Cheers
  8. Hi all My company are in need of a 24inch (minimum) chipper attached to a unimog (or similar). We are based near Sevenoaks in Kent, the job it's needed for is in Appledor. It's a load of straight willows that are being pollarded. It's a five day job with a crane on site and road closure. The road is very narrow so the chipping up unit needs to be along the road, not a side feed, if that makes sense?? Hence having it attatched to a unimog that it can chip straight into would be ideal. We would want to hire the unit, with opperator for the five days. It's happening in two weeks (17th march) so if anyone is interested please get intouch asap! We are waiting to hear back from a company but need a back up plan as they are leaving it very late to confirm!! Any help or interest just PM me and let me know how much you would charge. Thanks in advance

  11. Hear are some images from my phone from 11 days ago, It’s the takedown of 2 trees & the making safe of 1 tree from the up-stream side of a bridge under repair so they can get equipment in to strengthen it after flood damage. didn’t think to take any photos until after the 1st biggest tree was down, as I had got a new phone with a camera, lol! Image 1: the Unimog U1500 I was operating, the remnants of the ivy covered 1st tree are stacked for loading (left) The chipper is on the bridge in the background ware all chippable wood was dropped/pulled/thrown out of the tree, then the trunks were felled back towards the bank individually then grabbed with the crane before the hinge was cut threw then lifted out. Tree 2 can be seen behind the crane kingpost. Image 2: a composite showing tree 2 (left) & tree 3 right, Tree2 has been dismantled and chippable wood was dropped/pulled/thrown out of the tree as per tree 1, Trunks are ready for lifting out onto the bridge. Image 3 & 4: tree 2 all lifted out. All the brash from tree 3 was stacked near tree 2’s stump then grabbed with the crane and lifted out then placed in front of the Unimog on the bridge orientated for chipping into the back of a 7.5t truck, lower branches that could be reached were directly lifted out. Image 5: an inadvertent before & after of tree 3.
