  3. Hey, with the current bombardment of notch rope runner bashing filling all arb forums (which is rightly so seeing as they are taking no blame) I have been searching for the OG rope runner and failing. does anyone know it is now discontinued? thanks team
  4. I have been using the ZZ and chicane with the Drenaline rope and found that as it is quite a dynamic rope and you really have to push hard for limb walks or moving along the rope as it really bends round the chicane and causes a lot of friction. Can I have any rope suggestions that you guys have found to work really well with the ZZ and chicane.
  5. I am on the hunt for a new climbing line! What i am after is a rope with no sheath slippage when damaged, these ropes already exist in the rock climbing work with videos of sheath slip and objects decking out to go with it... think about it.... Everything we use relies on the sheath, zigzag, hitches, spider jacks, rope wrench etc... so your rope gets a tad worn or snags above you while working, that rubs away or just gets worse through weight bearing, the sheath is compromised and slips like taking a sock off.... end result is you going down. Doesn't take much to compromise the sheath when weighted to tear the whole way round. I know BEAL do a 'unicore' rope already for arb work but at 13mm, its way too big for SRT or zigzag. Video showing compromised sheath and the outcome to friction device.... think about it when your climbing next and you will see what i mean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtURlhPssQI Anyone know anything that fits the bill? possibly Cousin Atrax potentially. Stay safe guys
  6. I was just wondering if anyone had bought/used or had any experience with the new DMM iD smart tags for Loler. Does it work reliably? When you retro-fit a tag to any item does it actually stay on the item? It's probably fine if you're a fair-weather climber and look after your gear but what about climbing through wet/dense/slimy/ivy-covered trees and shoving it back in your bag to rot like most tree surgeons. I can imagine the zip-tie tag to a harness and other textile products staying attached but the sticky dot they provide for the caribeeners seems unlikely....and....if it's still there (on a rigging pulley) after a year will it still work??? Please any info would be appreciated
  7. Most people see Yale Cordage as the producer of some of the best Arborist Ropes on the market to date; this is a video of what other type of industries they are involved in with some intresting footage.
  8. Ive seen arborists working on anything from crown thinning to actually cutting sections down the trunk. They seem to be using several different ropes obviously i know the anchor. But what is the one they use to strap from their harness around the tree and back to the harness? Is it an average rope or a strop or a lanyard? Ive also seen them use a similar rope in set of two when climbing first time, alternating between the two ropes whilst gradually getting higher up the branches. What are they using? Sorry about the silly question im new to arboriculture doing a college course next year want as much info as i can get cheers
