Garden is used for growing vegetables so no contaminants please. The garden has a wide access lane off Coronation Road. Wood/bark chippings needed for paths Spring 2022 if possible. 5 to 10 cubic meter required - staggered loads (?) would be great.

    Frugaldom

Frugaldom is a 5-hectare site being developed into a volunteer-based, social enterprise with market garden. We operate on a not-for-profit basis planting orchards, veg and herb gardens and looking after rescued & rehomed ponies. We can use wood chip of most descriptions for mulching, path & track coverings, composting and for ground cover around muddy gateways. Small diameter logs can be used for track/path edgings or incorporated into environmental art projects and wildlife habitat. The site is accessed via the u165w, which is a tarred single track road. Our track is accessed through a 12' metal gate with access for vehicles up to an absolute maximum 8-wheel tipper (if necessary) or tractor/van/car with trailer but it is not suitable for articulated lorries. We can accept any type of wood or bark chips, just let me know if it contains the likes of Yew, so it gets used out of reach of the ponies.
  4. I was wondering whether anyone knows if used/empty 20 litre chain oil containers are either recycled anywhere or refillable somewhere or if they would cause a problem on a pick up or tractor engine if I were to say, rinse out with diesel, and use them for diesel storage. It seems somehow wrong/shame to throw them away or dispose of them well...... or badly....

Market Garden using wood chippings for mulch/compost and cordwood for recycling etc.
  6. We seem to be producing more chip than we can get rid of (for free) at the moment and I’m constantly looking for new tip sites. We have at least a transit van load a day, if not more and we have a few places that take the loads for free, but if we cannot find somewhere to tip (for free), we either dump it in our field (access is poor - can only just about get a transit down the track and around a sharp bend) or we have to take to somewhere like Colliers and pay to get rid which is quite pricey! I’m interested to hear how others in the industry manage their chip. What do you do with it and is there another way of making a profit from such a sort after material? Thanks in advance, Sophie
  7. Hey, Where can I find some arb by products from virgin wood? Any logs, timber, chip, fines or brash? Thanks
  8. Does anyone know of a composting/recycling center for green waste, chip and logs in the Folkstone area? Am doing a one-off for extended family and I could really do with not taking it back the 100 miles to home!
