  1. Hello, Could any one give me some advice on this tree. I am unclear if it is already dead or what I should do with it? Attached is a picture and a video, you will also see at the end of the video that the tree is growing happily healthy leaves. Many thanks for any help. WhatsApp Video 2021-09-02 at 10.12.56.mp4
  2. So, I've been pretty tired all the time for the past few years. All my life really... I just put it down to being fed up... By pure chance, a few days ago, a couple of wee sachets of Magnesium Aspartate supplement came my way - a freebie in an order of other stuff. I mixed with water and drank it, just because. Later the same day or maybe the next day, I was full of energy. Didn't associate it with the magnesium. A few days later, I saw the second packet lying around and consumed it. A few hours later, energy started coming back. Mood greatly improved... So I kind of made the causal connection, and googled "magnesium for energy" and yes indeed, that what it was all about, I had a magnesium deficiency. Bought a box of the stuff at the pharmacy and have been on a daily dose for a few days, it works. Energy levels "normal" which to me feels like being on speed or something. The boost lasts all day, maybe a couple of days, not like a caffeine kick though, which is more of a mental stimulant, this is really a physical cellular type deal. Just thought I'd mention it, as there might be some folks on here who could benefit from trying it. Apparently a lot of people are Mag deficient and it's a malabsorption problem, not a dietary one.
  3. Hello As part of my industrial design course, I am currently looking into indoor air pollution. I understand that air quality is a concern for many of us, so I aim to generate a solution that helps to provide cleaner air for our home environments. A big part of designing new solutions is understanding the problem from the user perspective. Hence, it would be very helpful if you could answer a few questions about your experience with air quality at home. I look forward to gaining insight through your responses. Questions: Is indoor air quality something that you think about often, or that impacts you on your daily life (or that of your family members)? Do you take any measures to try to protect yourself or family members from poor indoor air quality at home ? Are you particularly concerned about any individual home pollutants? Who do you think should be responsible for improving the quality of the air in your home (if anyone)? Do you think more education about indoor air pollution is needed? Would you benefit from a service that highlights low polluting home products ? How would you use this information? Thank you, Aaron
  4. Have a client who has several spruce trees along the back of his garden boundary. There are thousands of small aphids across the spruce trees and also the adjacent fence. Don't have a picture of them yet however the Aphids are approx 5mm in size / have a tear shaped body and have 6 legs. I've never seen such an infestation of aphids before. does anyone have any ideas or encountered such an issue. I will post some pictures tomorrow. Any help greatly appreciated
  5. Hello all Arb Talkers! With the increased numbers of new pest and diseases affecting our trees (both urban and woodlands) there is on going need for biosecurity practice to become adopted as standard practice throughout the Forestry and Arboricultural industries. In order to make this practical and proportionate we need to hear from all those that work in these industries; whether you are the Managing director of a large firm or a groundy working for a small team we want to hear what your thoughts are: The Forestry Commission have put together a short email survey - to find out what you think about biosecurity currently, how aware you are of the current guidance, and how you feel it does, or should, impact on your daily work. Do you have ten minutes to spare to complete the survey? It will help steer us on how best to communicate around the issue of biosecurity, and let us know what you need to follow biosecurity guidance more fully in the future. It’s an online survey, and can be completed anonymously here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FCbiosecurity
  6. I brought 'The climbers companion' and its a really good read but it only has climbing techniques. Can anyone help me with any decent books on perhaps chainsaw and cutting techniques side of things...or the tree health, growth and disease side of things...cheers by the way ive looked at modern arboriculture and its too expensive so that's out of the picture
