  4. Hi All. I'm based in the Carmarthenshire area near the end of the M4. For a few years now I have fancied organising a public fair/show for woodcrafters to sell their products, sculptors to demonstrate their skills and for arborists to compete in demonstration competitions. Would also be good to have some tool and equipment suppliers on site to show their products. More than anything this would be a means of the public seeing the craft involved and for local tradesmen and artists to show their skills.... Whilst giving something a bit different for the local community to experience. If you are anywhere near this area, or would be up for travelling a little to get involved, please do let me know. I saw some great shows in the states and would love to see the same here. What I would think would work would be: - Arborist competitions. - Chainsaw sculpting. - Green woodworking. - Woodturning. - Carving. - Trade stands. - Eco-education. ... anything else you guys think could be fun. I would also love to hear from anyone who would be interested in getting involved to help organise this... woodcraft is my passion but there is a lot I will confess to not knowing. Thanks everyone and I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Rob
  5. Competition Yale Cordage are giving you the opportunity to create a name for their latest rope which will be launched in the UK at the ARB FAIR 11th 12th June. The person with the winning entry will win 2 hanks of the new rope Closing date for all entries will be 31st May 2010 This all new 12mm 24-strand climbing line from YALE CORDAGE is based on the same manufacturing process, construction, and success as the 11.7mm Blue Moon rope / Poison Ivy. This rope gives climbers all the advantages and characteristics of a lightweight 11.7mm rope but gives the feel of a 13mm rope in the hand. You can find all the details on this new rope and read some reviews by visiting the website www.nametherope.com To enter the competition also go to www.nametherope.com This competition is sponsored by
  6. Knighton Countryside Management are running (a great in our opinion) Competition! We have recently taken down a big cedar and are going to take the butt to shows for admiration. We are asking people to guess the weight.......you need to enter by post at our office address or on Twitter @KnightonCM or at The Melplash show, The Stock Gaylard Oak Fair or The Dorchester Show
  7. mt.arborist and into trees invite you to enter the 2011 TreePhoto competition. Up for grabs for the winners of each of three categories are a DMM Impact Block (L), ATRAES MicroFrog SRT System or ART Spiderjack II. Full details of the competition, a list of the categories and info about how to enter are given here. We're after great tree climbing or tree work photos, or just cool pics of trees or forests, or pretty much anything tree related! If we get enough entries, we may look at producing a print-on-demand book with profits to the Tree Fund... otherwise we'll just be displaying the photos in a gallery online and the sponsors may want to use any particularly good shots in future catalogues or online. Fame and fortune (well maybe a new rigging pulley) beckon... A big thank-you to our generous sponsors: ATRAES, TreeTools and ART. Thanks guys for always supporting, and always saying yes!
  8. Due to lack of funds the official poleclimbing wesite is not being updated (anyone fancy sponsoring it let me know) In the meantime I've set up a facebook group to publish details of all events etc. the group can be seen at: Log in | Facebook
  9. Its that time again - The East of England Cutters and Climbers Competition is upon us once more (and I'd only just suppressed the memories of last year). Gratefully sponsored once again by arbtalk.co.uk and arbjobs.com (amongst others!). Same old routine (more or less); book your place, get your tickets, turn up, climb a tree, cut one down, have a laugh and win some prizes. Same events as last year, except we're dropping the bar and chain change for a head to head pole climb. Cos everyone loves spikes!! Ha ha. We're looking at a simpler ranking system this year, with prizes for the top handful for each event but the big prizes going to the best all rounders who complete all three events. Due to financial stress we are regretfully charging £5 per event or £10 for all three. Competitors tickets are still free though! Post your questions and I'll do my best!
