  1. Battery boosters, jump packs, whatever you call them. The new lithium ones.. Thinking seriously about buying a couple, for me and Wifey's cars/vans. For reasons of safety firstly and pride secondly, one doesn't want to rely on the charity of strangers for a jump start. Especially after reading about the small chance of the "doner" vehicle blowing it's circuits if the jump goes wrong. Wouldn't want any part of that drama.. Any thoughts or experiences? Recommendations and warnings?
  2. After taking almost ½ tonne of batteries to the recycle's the other day I am looking to find a better situation of buying and replacing, my problem is some of our machinery is only used occasionally, be it bike, excavator, saw mill, tractor, car, mower etc. I have optima battery that has lasted better than most but there is only a limited range and similar with varley and Odyssey race/rally style batteries, I am aware that start up run every week or 2 is ideal and or keep on shelf with regular charging management, possible solar charging in situ, I have found most seem to last long enough to get past guarantee date then expire, gasp. My supplier yesterday said they are only built now to be regularly used and not for occasional use. Any help or suggestions appreciated.
  3. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could help me out by participating in this questionnaire for my BSc Arboriculture & Urban Forestry dissertation?! 🌲 🌳 If you find the time, at the other end of the link there will be a brief description of the project, some notes on GDPR and why I believe it is integral research for arboriculture moving forward - the questionnaire itself should take no more than 5 minutes! Thanks very much for taking an interest, I really appreciate it! If you could like and share around with others, that would be great. Kind regards, Jacob. Microsoft Forms FORMS.OFFICE.COM
  4. I had a 2014 Hilux 2.4 until recently. When I got it it had one battery. I installed a winch. I also installed an extra battery and a T-Max charge box to look after the batteries. I just replaced that Hilux (because I wrote off the old one - don't ask) with a 2014 3.0 which has two batteries installed already. Do I connect the winch to the battery at the front or the battery at the rear of the engine bay?
  5. Hi guys and girls, i am a second year BSc student doing an assignment on battery equipment and lowering carbon footprints, if you could help me by filling in the questionnaire below and giving me your opinions in the comments on this forum it would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance for helping me out. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=DQSIkWdsW0yxEjajBLZtrQAAAAAAAAAAAAO__cVLDKpUNjUzQ0VCTkNEWEVPQUhWVkpTRTBFRlpKNy4u
  6. Bought yesterday, with the 12" bar a single 200 (4AH) battery and quickest charger. Wow, what a beautiful saw! Lighter than I expected, just so nice to use. Picked it up and went straight to work, removing a sycamore from a roadside wall. Didn't bother with ear defenders, didn't need them. The saw feels extremely controllable, no gyroscopic effect except for a very slight vertical nose lift. Did the sycamore down to about fifteen feet, and topped a small cypress, still had three lights on the battery. It does demand mindfulness as the saw could potentially un-break itself on branches, so was hyper-aware of break and throttle position when picking it up. The torque, relatively slow chain speed, quietness, complete lack of vibration etc. made the working experience more "studied" - more deliberate, I would say. Easy and instant communication with groundie was a blessing. I find I'm developing a kind of pseudo-fetish for the 160t, I keep going to the shed just to pick up the saw and hold it, marvelling at the design and technology. Would recommend.
  7. Can't help notice lots of positive user reviews for the battery powered Husqvarna T536 Li XP see the specifications here: HUSQVARNA 536 Li XP® - XP® saws ....am I mad to seriously consider this as my first ever chainsaw? We have 16 acres of mixed woodland to manage; and our woods range from scrub ~ to unmanaged coppice ~ to self seeded mini-trees ~ to medium trees ~ to big trees ~ to massive gurt trees. I'm not expecting the Husky T536 LiXP to fell anything massive, and probably nothing much medium size.... My questions are: How much work should I realistically expect this electric chainsaw to cope with?.... What's the maximum fell size? Could I get away with just buying this and a much bigger chainsaw at a later date?
