Hello all, I wanted to see if there was any interested parties out there who may want some Timber from a site we are likely to fell near Windsor Berkshire. The timber is a mixture of Oak, Holly, Yew, Sweet Chestnut, Lime and a small amount of softwood. Im either interested in hearing from people who want it and can pick it up in cord length from the site, ( No Cherry picking) It will be free. Another option is just to chip it all! Any one who has a large whole tree chipper and can get rid of the chip too, I appreciate this will not be a free service. The site is perfect for artics, and has some hard standing for processing and removal. I estimate there is approx 60 tone may be a bit more. Hello All, looking at selling Lumbermate 2000, 5 yrs old. Its in good condition didn't have a hard life with us or the previous owner (who i knew). Its been stored for three years in the barn and then we had it mostly outside for last 2 but always under cover. Its trailored - 5 m long - the longest mobile mill you can get, you can take extensions off to make it shorter. Horizontal Bandsaw type, water lubricated. Petrol Engine - Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 23 hp. It has a pre-paid tracking device (for a year). No obligation to extend the contract once it runs out. It would come with cant hooks, quality blades, engine oil, some spare parts, user manual and plenty recommendations where to get spares and other tricks. I am also happy to spend some time with you teaching you how to use it. It is located in Yorkshire. The asking price is £6000.

Its a little after the fact but I simply have to write about the amazing Tweed Valley Forest Festival we visited last year! We visited the wood markets at Peebles Community centre and out on the green as part of the Tweed Valley Forest Festival held on sat and sun. The indoor market had a fantastic selection of beautiful hand made wood products, including furniture, bowls etc and wood for carving. We picked up a couple of Christmas presents and had to leave before we went too far. The outdoor market was really busy – lots of activities for kids to do and crafts to try out. Some of the best chainsaw carvers in Scotland were there competing in Carvefest! They created some amazing carvings – the competition was won by Garry Shand; he won the judges and the people choice for his carving of two bears sitting in a tree. The Scottish Conker Championships were held for the 9th year running, the winners were: Junior – Jack Craigen; Youth – Stuart Head; Adult – Steve Whitehorn; Rogue – Iain Laidlaw. Peebles food festival was there too with delicious food and drink. All in all this is a really great gathering of all things 'woody' each year it is growing and the organisers are looking for anyone making wooden crafts or other things produced in a woodland to exhibit next year. It is a great day out for all the family and runs Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd October 2016 (10.30am to 4.30pm). Morning all, I'm looking to get an alpine tractor and timber trailer to allow us to start extracting from a few small woodland sites in Buckinghamshire. It's all very small scale work (<50t a year) on SSSI sites which means we're limited to low impact kit and access only during dry periods. I'm looking at the AGT850TR and COT30-470 3t timber trailer combination at the moment, from Riko. But I am new to forestry work and was hoping to get some advice! I was thinking of putting 300/65-12 tyres on the trailer along with a crane winch and band tracks as we're on heavy clay and anything to spread the weight will be useful! Anyone's thoughts on this setup would be really appreciated along with anything else to consider. Thanks all!

Stacked firewood for sale AND felling contractor sought

Hi. I work for a local authority in South Bucks and we manage Country Parks. We have the following timber stacks for sale (as firewood presumably): ALSO, read to the bottom if you are interested in potential felling jobs with timber sale as price). STACK 1...Mixed species but approx. 65% deciduous, all cut 8 ft long, diameter varies from 2"-2ft, average diameter 6/7", stack measures 5ft 9" high, 88ft long. This was cut Winter 2013/14. Good access - can take photos of road surface for interested parties. Warning: only 50 pieces are over one foot diameter. Small bits inc. birch but the big bits all all oak. STACK 2...Grand fir and pine, all cut 12ft, 4"-20" diameter, average 11" diameter, Approx 140 pieces, cut Feb 2014. Good access - same place as STACK 1. Storm damage clear up. STACK 3...Scots pines, all 12ft long. 4"-2.5ft dia, average dia 1 ft, stack size 5ft3" high, 42ft long, approx 300 pieces, felled and stacked spring 2014, 55 to 60 pieces are over one ft diameter. There are a few other bits of conifer and sweet chestnut dotted around on the ground, which we would be happy to listen to offers for if you visit. In the meantime, feel free to ask any questions or request photos of the timber or the access points. We also have a sizable clearance job to undertake at one of our parks. Brash would need disposing of (fine to burn at certain times of year). It is under HLS so there are terms and conditions to adhere to. The ground conditions are potentially pretty wet in the winter, so we would be needing seasonal extraction and we want the brash disposed of (burning ok but seasonal - basically winter ok only!) The Felling Licence is in place and calculated as: 5.8 hectares, all Scots pine, approx. age of trees 35 yrs, the dbh is 31. The selective felling percentage is 70% to come out. The licence calculates the metre cubed volume at 600 m3. At this moment I'm just trying to ascertain interest in the felling and clearance job - I may have to put it out to tender depending on value. Certainly public liability insurance and tickets will be required and we would have to set you up as an official vendor etc. but this hasn't caused any problems in the past with official businesses etc. Enquiries are very welcome at this stage. Whether we clear it all in one go or stagger it over five years is also debatable at this stage. Cheers. Matt. -

I'm involved with a small-scale felling operation 30 miles north of Stirling, Scotland. The trees comprise Lawson Cypress (10 Ton), Western Red Cedar (15 Ton) and Larch (8 Ton) - weights are approximate. The downside to the felling, is that a couple of us are carrying out this work voluntarily for the Scout Association, so we can only fell the trees over several weekends, which might take a year to complete. I'm looking for someone who might be interested in buying the timber as a lot or in part, but they'd need to transport it off site. The site is adjacent to an old railway line and so is solid and has reasonable access. I would need the timber moved soon after we carry out a weekends felling; therefore, there might be two or three journeys. If anyone is interested or knows someone who might be able to help us out, please reply or PM me.

I've bin asked by a florist if I have or can get 2 silver birch stems. we rarely come across birch fells so never really have birch timber of a substantial size. can anyone provide these? I'll ask for exact sizes required and then post them up too. cheers Duncan

Hi, I have a number (?) of tons of Hardwood - mostly Walnut, Maple, Ash and Cherry in various sizes - mostly 3-4' lengths and <30-40cm diameter, but also some larger rounds (which are shorter). Hi All, THIS IS UNPROCESSED WOOD FRESHLY CUT We are working on a site on the Uxbridge/ Hillingdon borders just off the A40, over the next few days. Theres a fair old whack of various bits of wood that is free to anyone who would like it. It's.. willow, birch, cherry, ash, robinia, hawthorn, laurel and a bit of oak. Some is in 2'-3' sections (man handleable) and other bits in whole tree sections (up to around 20'). We do not have facilities to load, but you could get any sized truck in to pick it up. I have two large(ish) Sycamores coming down in March and at the moment my yard is full of timber and I have nowhere for the timber from these trees. Both trees are in a front garden and close to the road (with a 2.5m tall hedge between them and road), and near Stamford, Lincs.. Anyone interested? I will consider all offers. One tree has a lot of flaking bark at the base and the crown is not too clever (a couple of large snapped limbs in the last couple of years) - so I suspect the timber from that tree wouldn't be up to much for milling/turning but should be useful for firewood but I'm not sure about the other. T1 is ~25m tall, has dbh~1m and bifurcates at ~4m into two ~40-50cm stems T2 is ~18m tall, dbh ~0.7m and bifurcates at ~3m into two stems

I am looking for timber butts in Lancashire, to use for firewood. It can be collected in large loads by timber trailer. Can also be extracted from otherwise hard to access places e.g gulleys, brooks, windblown's (hung up also), steep banking's etc. with forestry winch!
