  1. A couple of us have been talking about getting Nod from Treeworker up here to run a splicing workshop. We need to get some expressions of interest from folk up here or nearby who would be up for attending to see if the numbers would work. We've not got precise dates in mind just yet but in terms of cost it would be £200 per person for the workshop/tuition (2 days over a weekend). Nod/Treeworker can provide splicing kits for £100. Venue hire would be on top of this but would be split evenly between all participants. Who's up for it?
  2. Hi, I'm a Groundie/second climber around the Ayrshire/Glasgow and central belt areas of Scotland looking for work, I'm fully qualified in aerial cutting and tree felling through Ayrshire college, if you leave your email address i can send you my cv for you to look at. I am available for work throughout the entire week. I also have my own transport. Regards Neil Kerr Email- [email protected] Mobile- 07526 796448
  3. Immediate work to cover holidays and new contracts - mainly Commercial work Glasgow, Edinburgh and between. Call Matt 07794167589 email [email protected] or office on 0131 510 2013
  4. I am looking for someone to run an axe throwing event for a Scottish Arb Day which is planned for 27th August 2016. We will have a climbing demo and hopefully a fun climbing competition. More on this later. The location will most likely be between Abington (on the M74) and Lanark. We are trying to make it a free event but have some funds to pay if necessary. We will hopefully be having a social event after involving the usual fire, food and drinking, with people camping on site. I know there was a group in Dumfries who did this, but I cannot find any sign of them on the web. I'd be open to alternative suggestions for something similar. Any help much appreciated!
  5. I am currently based in Orkney Islands and have been doing the odd tree job around Orkney and Aberdeenshire over the last couple years, I have CS30,31,38 & 39, full clean driving licence, including category C (class 2), my own saws climbing gear and basic rigging kit. I am looking to relocate to mainland Scotland and move in to full time tree surgery from a plant fitter back ground. Not to fussy about where in Scotland as long there's work for me. Any contacts or information greatly appreciated. Any questions you may have I will be happy to answer. Thanks in advance Colin
  6. I'm a young Arborist who has been self-employed sub-contracting for the past 4 and a bit years. More recently, I have established myself as Samurai Tree Care and have been getting a few of my own jobs in. I trained and worked in Hertfordshire, but now I'm moving to Inverness for a better life. I would ideally like to walk into full-time employment. I'm very comfortable and responsive as a groundsman and have previously been involved in small scale forestry. I started climbing a while back but only gained the speed and efficiency more recently, I'm still a bit rough around the edges, so I would like to get more experience to better myself. I do love the forestry side, so will be open to any offer of hand felling forestry. I don't hold any large machine tickets at the moment but would be completely open to it in the near future. Full CV is available at request. Email: [email protected] Mob: 07905768752 (send a text first as I'm working between 8am-5pm and can't answer the phone). Hope to hear from any employers or guys working in the area, Could really use any help. Cheers guys, Ben Bruce

  11. Hi Everyone, I have a couple of large Copper Beech logs (Fagus sylvatica Purpurea) ready to be milled in Bothwell, South Lanarkshire & I was wondering of anyone was interested in the boards from them. I haven't milled them yet so you could specify sizes. The logs have been cut to 3 m in length already & the largest is about 34 " (approx 86 cm) in diameter & the smaller of the 2 is approx 24". I also have quite a few large Ash logs from the same job (there is also some large logs of other species such as Sycamore & Lime). All offers considered - we can deliver if reasonably local otherwise you can pick them up from the site. Regards, Martin Greener Glens

  14. Hi all, I'm based in Glasgow, happy to travel. I am NPTC trained and qualified, and have 4 years self-employed experience cutting trees, in domestic/urban arboriculture setting as well as forestry and peat bog restoration. I have held my climbing tickets (also NPCT) for 2 years. I have all my own PPE, a reliable chainsaw, climbing/rescue kit, chipper ticket, first aid at work, full clean UK driver's license, and my own transport. Open to any offers of work, please get in touch, distance is not a problem provided there's enough work for it to be worthwhile. Cheers! -Dru 07789621187
  15. Hi, I have just passed my cs38 and I'm putting the feelers out for any opportunities to start climbing and gaining experience. I will be getting my cs39 in the next month or two as well. I have a good amount of experience doing ground work and I am looking to progress onto climbing. I am a reliable, competent, flexible and 'switched on' worker that is keen to continue learning and improving my skill set. I have my own ground saw, climbing kit and PPE. I'm 28 and based in Glasgow; however, for the right opportunity I would consider working further afield as I have no ties. Ideally, it would be full time opportunities but I understand this is possibly unrealistic. I am self employed so any opportunities would be considered. Thanks all, Rich Mobile: 07933136253
  16. Hi all, I'm based in Glasgow, happy to travel. I am NPTC trained and qualified, and have 4 years self-employed experience cutting trees, both in domestic/urban arboriculture setting and forestry/peat bog restoration. I have my climbing tickets (also NPCT), and am looking to build up experience as a climber. Have all my own PPE, a reliable chainsaw, full clean UK driver's license, and my own transport. Open to any offers of work, please get in touch, distance is not a problem provided there's enough work for it to be worthwhile. Cheers! -Dru 07789621187
  17. I'm involved with a small-scale felling operation 30 miles north of Stirling, Scotland. The trees comprise Lawson Cypress (10 Ton), Western Red Cedar (15 Ton) and Larch (8 Ton) - weights are approximate. The downside to the felling, is that a couple of us are carrying out this work voluntarily for the Scout Association, so we can only fell the trees over several weekends, which might take a year to complete. I'm looking for someone who might be interested in buying the timber as a lot or in part, but they'd need to transport it off site. The site is adjacent to an old railway line and so is solid and has reasonable access. I would need the timber moved soon after we carry out a weekends felling; therefore, there might be two or three journeys. If anyone is interested or knows someone who might be able to help us out, please reply or PM me.

  20. Hi not the best at advertising myself but will give it a shot im 21 years old, have CS 30,31,32 health and safety at work, and qualified harvester and forwarder operator. Do not currently have climbing or aerial rescue. Been working on harvesting sites for over a year now, felling mainly softwoods of a mixed diameter, some big stuff! snedding, cross cutting, brashing and all the usual stuff. Worked along side winches and other machiney. Looking to get into the climbing side of things now, utility or domestic either or. Purchased my own climbing kit last year and have been learning of my dad(15 years experience, now surveyor for SSE) for the past year, and have built up a good basic skills knowledge, looking to now progress to the next step with training. Any employers out there that would be willing to give me a start or even couple days here and there, to help out and see what its all about!! Being in a lucky situation of my parents staying in Forfar and me coming from Stranraer I am able to travel/work anywhere form Dundee, Perth etc to Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway. Have my own saws, PPE etc. Cheers, any help at all would be great.
