  1. I'm looking for a CS39 or CS47 operator for about a fortnights work at the start of February. The work is near Fort William and accommodation can be provided. PM me or phone 07854762705 to discuss requirements and rates. Many thanks Robert
  2. I have bought a stihl 362 its a second hand 2010 model it previously had not been used with aspen fuel, previous owner mixed their own. I only really want to use aspen as I am led to believe it's better for the user, machines and environment. Is there anything I should do before putting aspen fuel in and starting it up or will it it be ok to just fill her up and go? Machine generally looks ok theres no scoring on piston etc, there's no fuel in tank currently except for a little remnants. Any help greatly appreciated thanks Hamilton
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbGjpRk-3OQ Watch in HD for the best experience P.S. the camera survived(for another day)
  4. Hi are any of our lovely sponsors planning on having a seasonal sale?
  5. Morning all, here's a little question for you: I've been asked to quote for some upland regen. clearance. We mainly do climbing work so this is a bit outside my comfort zone pricing wise. The trees are spread out, all less than 15' high (the few that are more are to be brashed and ring-barked) some areas busy, whilst some there's nothing. All broadleafs are to be left. Now I know without seeing the site any answers are at best pretty vague, but if I have a few answers and I consider them along with the site visit I did yesterday that will give me a better idea than had I not asked. So, how many square meters do you think each chainsaw operator could do in a day? The ground is hard going upland boggy / heathery/ tufty grasses and bracen etc. Trees under 15' fell and leave, trees over 15' brash and ring-bark. Thank T.
  6. Found this on my youtube reccomended videos The prank itself is done well, but i think it goes a bit far, being in america it could have gone wrong very easily.....
  7. Hunter Tree Care and Fencing are currently seeking more staff. Driving license essential. Please contact James on 07831832278
  8. Hi I am a Lowly arboriculture student seeking parts! Looking for the pull start assembly and top handle? Thanks Joe
  9. I bought it a while ago on eBay but have no idea what make it is. Its running ok at the moment but will be able to get parts for it? It says 20:1 mixture but can I use a higher ratio if I use fully synthetic 2 stroke oil? So many questions, sorry.
  10. Hi guys, New to the Forum, and although I've searched the threads can't quite find an answer I'm looking for! Wanted some advice on buying my first chainsaw. Not really doing any felling, but more working on the ground. Ringing and logging of max diameter 3 foot trees but alot of the time maybe smaller stuff like 20 inches. Will use it on average 3 days a week. Maybe 12 hours/week. Was thinking a husky 365 but is it more than I need? What would people recommend? What bar length is best? Has anyone got anything they're about to sell? Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi All Im wanting to get into chainsaw milling but after reading the forum im in need of a bigger saw than the ones I've got. Just wondering if there are any saws out there that people know are for sale? Ive been offered the new stihl MS661 for £735 inc vat from my local dealer. But im not to fussy if theres a second hand saw out there that would do the job. Cheers Matt
  12. I have 6 NOS Husky flywheels marked 5062186-01 & 5062186-02. Does anyone know what machine they are for please?
  13. NPTC CS30/31 Qualified and experienced chainsaw operators preferably with CS38 and CCS39. Utility/Rail qualifications and/or experience would be desirable but not essential. PPE will be provided - Full Driving licence would be preferred. We are looking to recruit two additional chainsaw ops and/or climbers to join or growing team as a full time employed member of staff. This will include a competitive salary, the use of company vehicles, 28 days paid holiday each year and you will also be invited to join our training and investment in people scheme which means if you have an appetite to complete other industry relevant qualifications, we can help you with the costs and required resources associated with this. Please call Claire for a chat on 07861 780 260
  14. We have a post today on Landscape Hub inquiring about a chainsaw scupturist, (is that a word?) in South London. If anyone on Arbtalk is interested, I can pass on the message, (or you can do it yourself if you join Landscape Hub). I've mentioned the post was added today, (17th September 2013), because these things are often time sensitive and threads can be visible for months, (if not years). Here's the original thread on Landscape Hub - chainsaw sculpture needed - Landscape Hub Cheers, Gary
  15. We are currently looking for various disciplines to integrate within our existing teams. Majority of the work will be on Network Rail property, sites and days will vary. Ideal candidate should be PTS qualified as well as holding certificates for chainsaw, etc. Based South (Wessex, Western) Please email with questions or to request an application. [email protected] Many thanks.
  16. Hi all, I am looking for qualified climbing chainsaw operatives in the Northamptonshire area. These are full time permanent positions, however will consider subcontractors for the position. Please contact me 01327 312464 for more information. Thanks Tom
  17. Hi all, I am pretty new to the industry and have been recommended to sign up to Arbtalk to get some advice on buying new gear. I have just finished my course and I am looking to buy some PPE, Climbing equipment and a topper (probably the new Husky 540 as its just arrived!). I live out in the sticks in the South West so ideally I am looking to get everything sent in the post... Any recommendations of where to buy from? Where have people had good service from? Cheers Stan
  18. Hi I have been given an old chainsaw to mess about with. Unfortunately it doesn't start ( probably why my boss gave it to me for free). The chainsaw is 8-10 years old and has been sitting around for a year or so now. I have checked the spark plug and there appears to be a spark there, fuel line seems to be in a reasonable order. Could somebody please let me know what could be up with it and if its worth spending a few quid on getting it working again. Thanks, Luke
  19. I'm currently doing a arb & forestry couse and in about a years time i will be able to go for my climbing and chainsaw test. I don't want to spend money on doing a 1 week course now so i was just wondering. What tree work can i do without having any tickets.
  20. I'm a young family man (I'm 26) based in Moniaive currently looking for work in and around the Dumfries and Galloway area but can travel further. I have resently got my Forwarder lisence but also have my Cs 30,31,32 and 34 chainsaw tickets. Im also handy with most machines (from brushcutters and strimmers to tractors) though I dot have other tickets. I also hold a driving lisence. I have been working mostly on windblow the past year as well as some estate maintenance ( cleaning up parks, digging out ditches, abit of road work etc.) but Im currently not getting as much work as i would like too feed my increasingly hungry Kids. I'm a easy going guy really, will work long hard hours for reasonable rates. I can also give refrences if required. So if your looking for an apprentice, groundsman, machine driver or labourer I'm your man. Thanks Henry My Mobile is 07860676217
  21. Hi All, We are looking for chainsaw operatives based in the Oxfordshire area, initially to support a new porject starting at the end of January. We would require you to hold valid NPTC CS30 and 31 certifications. It would be preferable that you held a valid PTS certification although this is not vital as we are able to sponsor you through the 2 day course. If are interested and hold the required tickets, please PM me. Thanks Tom
  22. Hey guys, I have recently been handed down a husqvarna 141 saw. Nice little saw but I was using it yesterday and after around 30 mins of using, it decided to stop idling and cut out. I can get the saw started but as soon as I stop revving the saw cuts out. The husky does need a general service and I have just ordered a servicing kit. I have been advised that the problem could lie with the spark arrestor screen. Could this be the problem ??? Advise please I will take out a and clean the screen anyway
  23. Hi all Things are kinda slow at the saw mill at the moment, so looking for some saw work in the South Gloucestershire/ Bristol area. I Have: NPTC Cs 30/31, 32, 34, and 35. and 5 Million public liability. 10 years experience working in forestry felling for Skylines, Skidders and Harvesters. Can be contacted on 07923266362 or pm Thanks for reading Dan
  24. I have just tested the cut protection on 2 pairs of chainsaw boots. Neither managed to stop, or even significantly slow the chain; the kevlar on the Haix boots did not wrap round the sprocket at all, and on the Alico it wrapped slightly (see picture), but nowhere near enough to produce resistance. Infact the leather seemed to produce far more resistance than the kevlar! See the videos here: Chainsaw Boot Test - YouTube - Haix Protector Lights Chainsaw Boot Test - YouTube - Alico
