Arboricultural Junior Manager Location: West Midlands Salary: Dependant on Skills and Experience Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent Glendale, the “green services” division of Parkwood Holdings plc has revenues of £45 million and operates throughout the UK. Glendale’s activities include grounds management, countryside management, horticulture and golf course management. Based at our Sandwell or Solihull depot, the candidate will play a key role in the day to day planning of Arboriculture operations undertaken in the Midlands. The role will include, but is not limited to, the implementation of management plans and the surveying of trees in the delivery of arboriculture works to our Local Authority, commercial and private client base. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational aspects of Arboriculture teams to ensure high levels of professionalism, performance and productivity. It is a part time post for 2 days per week. The days of the week to be worked are currently Monday & Tuesday. The candidate we are looking for will technically instruct students and demonstrate a wide range of arboriculture practical tasks. We are looking for someone who can inspire students to become fully trained tree surgeons. The candidate will have the opportunity to work at other sites at Capel Manor College as required. The post-holder will be required to drive a College Minibus. It is therefore desirable that applicants have category D1 on their current driving licence. Support will be given to applicants to undertake the appropriate test if they do not currently possess this. Key Duties: • Undertaking demonstration and technical instruction of students attending Capel Manor on a range of full-time, part-time and short courses at the direction of the Head of School in arboriculture and on occasion’s countryside management. This would include instructing to LANTRA/NPTC standards. • Undertaking the assessment of students’ practical abilities according to criteria laid down by BTEC, City & Guilds and the National Vocational Qualifications standards. The post is initially on a 6 month contract but Enterprise Peterborough will be looking to grow their arboricultural team over the course of the year to fulfil a number of duties and outputs, so successful post holders will be well placed for any opportunities that do arise. The London Borough of Waltham Forest is commencing the tender process for two contracts (i) a 6 year term contract for the maintenance of 20,000 street trees and trees upon Ascham Homes properties, and (ii) to provide a client officer function to manage the term maintenance contract.
