Hi there, I'm going out to New Zealand from the UK around September time for a month or so to see some family and was wondering if it was possible to find some work whilst i'm there to see whether I would like to potentially work out there for a longer period of time. I have 4 and a half years experience. My qualifications are; Level 2&3 Arb. Chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting. Felling. Aerial rescue. Chainsaw from rope and harness. Rigging. Aerial pruning. Hello all, We have a free to attend event on Saturday 9th September celebrating Native Woodlands and tied in with the removal of an old larch plantation, planted in the 1950s, from one of our sites. The event will include equipment demonstrations by Mendip Forestry and felling technique demonstrations by our local and dependable tree surgeons. We're hoping that the event will raise awareness of what the sector is all about! It would be great to know if anyone else has ever ran or been to an event like this before, and any advice regarding advertising and content would be greatly appreciated!   18. Vacancy for an Arboricultural Manager for an expanding company based in Ongar, Essex. The candidate should have experience of managing teams of climbers/ groundsmen. You should be able to carry out and supervise tree surgery works for both domestic and commercial sectors, as well as conduct managerial/ administrative duties. Essential criteria includes NPTC qualifications in CS30/31/32/38 and 39 (CS41 is desirable), have a full driving licence (B+E ticket desirable), NVQ Level 3 in Arboriculture (or equivalent), Stump grinders and woodchippers, be able to liaise with clients from all sectors (such as customers, tree officers etc), understand all aspects of legislation surrounding arboricultural works. Be able to assess work required to trees (a PTI or VTA course/ qualification is desirable), quote for works according to a shedule of rates, be able to negotiate with clients over recommended works, and have an understanding of budget management. You should also be able to mentor and train junior members of staff, as well as conduct appraisal and input into training plans. Working in the Stoke, Telford and Shrewsbury areas, you will be part of a team responsible for vegetation clearance on the overhead electrical network. This work is to support a recent long term contract award in the area.
