  1. Hello, please see the attached guidance, You will need planning permission and there is also a chance of a grant under Countryside Protection at 40%. For my own forwarder tracks I used 200mm of base stone topped with 50mm of crushed stone. Axle weight is one consideration, i.e the greater the weight the deeper the stone should be, also what are your ground conditions, is it wet bog or sandy soil. hope this helps Andy /assets/static/govuk-opengraph-image-dade2dad5775023b0568381c4c074b86318194edb36d3d68df721eea7deeac4b.png Roads and tracks: operations note 25 - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK How to plan and access tracks and surfaced haulage roads in woodland – the minimum appropriate standards for construction, repair and maintenance.
  2. Another thing to put in here, the rules are, you are able to harvest 5 cubic meters per calendar quarter if your are using the wood for yourself. Otherwise it is 2 cubic meters.
  3. Hi, Firstly contact your woodland officer and talk through your plans. then my advice is to get a felling license, it's free! so why not? You may also qualify for a grant to replace the Ash trees. you don't need a management plan to obtain a felling license, but if you apply through countryside stewardship for a £1000 grant, it will come with a 10 year felling license.
