  1. Hello, I am a 20 year old student in Scotland originally from Latvia hoping to continue my studies at ETH Zurich. I currently am thinking about getting a summer job in Switzerland, preferably Zurich and am just reaching out for possible advice. I am experienced in industrial alpine climbing through competitions both individual and in teams of four, have been the national champion of Latvia in the sport and have been a part of a top team as well for multiple years. I did most of the industrial alpine climbing practice on trees. I have been climbing and participating in bouldering competitions for 8 years, have been a national champion in bouldering as well and I worked as a telecommunications tower technician during the summer of 2019. Note: I got most of my medals before adulthood in U-18/U-16/U-14 championships, with competition smaller than in larger countries, finished the 2019 bouldering season 2nd because I missed 2 competitions which I missed due to an injury. I don't understand any of the 4 Swiss languages, have no professional qualifications and got my job as a telecom. tech. because of my competition history. Anyways, I believe I am a good fit for a role as a crew member and have not had much success browsing the web for jobs. Do you think it is feasible for me to get a job as a tree surgeon/arborist in Switzerland in the summer of 2021? Any other jobs with similar a skillset? Any other advice? My biggest weaknesses: (I know they are substantial) I don't have a drivers license (Do know how to drive a manual, but never went through the long and expensive process it is where I am form) Don't speak German, French, Italian or Romansh Have no previous arborist specific experience Have no professional qualifications/certificates My strengths: Able-bodied Experienced and competent with ropes While working with ropes have worked with objects up to 120kg (In competitions tires were usually used to simulate injured people, sometimes real people were limited only to using their legs) Have worked high above the ground (As a telecom. tech. worked much higher than any tree and have no fear of heights) Have worked with machinery (Have used powered saws and machines, but not yet a chainsaw)
