  1. Yes, agree on both accounts. It’s an old chimney so not insulated
  2. I have an old single story cabin and am putting in a new wood burning stove. It has a brick chimney in the center of the cabin. What are the thoughts behind extending the stovepipe to enter the brick chimney a meter upwards instead of just straight out the back and into the chimney? The stovepipe being non insulated , I would think would give more heat to the room. I’ve also been told that it gives less chimney effect(less air pull) if the pipe is inserted higher up. It seems to me it still has the same vertical distance from oven to top of chimney so should work equally well..
