What is typically the basis for a woodland management agreement, maintaining rides etc in exchange for timber and 1st refusal for any significant amounts of timber to purchase standing ? I realise this may not be a straight forward answer ?

Hi
I have completed certificate courses in Arb and Forestry with the Horticultural Correspondence College and now on their Conservation Studies course. They also have a level 3 diploma course in Arb - all distance learning. You can start any time. Note that some of the modules expect you do have some witness statements from field visits, however they have been understanding with the lockdowns and there are ways around this which the tutors can help with.
Myerscough will do a level 4 diploma in Arb, but you will need to have a certificate before they will allow you. They also do the certificate. Their courses start in Sept.
Good luck.
Is that a good course the HCC one ?

Not bad at all. What's it like to start on a cold morning? Mate of mine has a 6.30, he has rigged up a 24v starter for it.
don't know yet but it does seem like it lacks a bit of power to start

Might have dry disc brakes exposed under the cab, can be a fire hazard. It’s the linkage at the bottom of the gearstick that wears out, should be an easy fix though. All the controls are rods and links so a can of wd 40 would be handy. Bomb proof air cooled engine if there’s no oil leaks to clog up the cooling fins. 4wd or 2wd?
Its a 1984 4wd model

I'm sure you will love the work.
I'm 32 and just moving into the industry from IT. Got a trial next week with a local company to me so if all goes well i could be kicking IT in the butt and looking forward to the long winter working outdoors.
How did it go ?

I thought it was windthrown?
Anyway, my somewhat cynical opinion of persons looking for "free" firewood, is they will cherry pick the clean heavier stuff and simply leave the brash and rubbish at there arse.
ok what if they clear up the brash ?

I’m in Kent

Does anyone tidy up windfall trees in woodland in return for the timber to use as firewood instead of charging, does this work out financially ?

I'm not a landowner, I've started buying some standing timber and interested in taking on more work in the woods. So I'm after information on what makes up a woodland management agreement ?
