  1. Hi All, I would really like some comments please, i need to know if my weedeater is on the way out or not... I replaced the crank gasket today. After removing the crank plate i noticed that the crank housing and conrod had a brownish colour. No oil residue on the sides. Things looked pretty brown and dry down there. No excessive play on the main bearing noted. No scoring of piston on exhaust side. Sparkplug has brownish patina. This Homelite is about 15 years old. I used Stens oil in it at mostly 50:1 however changed over to Husqvarna synthetic oil about a week ago 40:1 mix now. With all this info... Is my Homelite in good health or not?

    Tanaka 7201

Yep, that is the one! BTW... I noticed that this machine does not have the adjustment protectors or "special tool" adjustment screws. They are there like in the olden days, in the open to adjust! Methinks it might be due to the fact that Europe and USA have much more strict emmissions laws????

Thank you so far for your input on my question all! Really appreciated! @Archerforestry the machine cost me R4025. Just over 212 Pounds?? Last i saw was also over six thousand Rand so I jumped on it when I saw it at that price!

Thanks @Archerforestry. I stay in South Africa and bought it from Dennis Mowers in Pretoria. They stock a wide range of Tanaka products at very good prices hence me going for this machine and not a smaller Stihl.

I have a Homelite 16".. I think it is a 36cc. Now about 15 years old and running strong. The brake on it is broken so i don't feel safe using it and getting spares for it is a nightmare. I feel comfortable using saws. I just have a huge amount of respect for them.

I would like to ask for some views, comments on the Tanaka 7201, 72.2cc chainsaw. I bought one last week brand new with a 24" Tanaka guide bar but asked the dealer to rather fit me a 20" Oregon guide bar seeing that the 24" bar made the machine "tip" forward due to it'weight. I have only started it 4-times (it is loud!) but have not used it to cut anything. What can I expect from this machine over the long run?
