Thanks guys. Sorry, I thought i would be notified of replys. So I have got a new seal kit for the ram, seems steep at £48 but worth a shot. Anyone had any experience of stripping these two stage rams? Every video shows it to take some kind of peg spanner or grips to remove a cap, but there doesn't seem to be one. Would it be under the wiper seal? Maybe I just need to get a grip and remove the cylinder and rub it down first, it's pretty rusty on the outside, but visually the cromed ram seems near perfect. I will check for wear in the morning. Would red rubber grease be ok for the new seals?

Hi guys, I have just purchased a used ifor TT85 tipper trailer. It extends on both rams with no issues, then retracts on the first inner ram fine, but stops when it should swap onto the main ram. You have to climb onto the top of the back and bounce it a bit, so it will judder down a few inches, then will come down nice and smooth. The lad I had it from thought it was a sticky lowering valve but that makes so sense to me, as it sticks in the same place each time. The fact it lowers on the first ram suggests it is not the solenoid. It does the same thing on the manual lower too. Any ideas what may cause this? The seal kit is about £60 and about the same for the valve, just wondered if anyone has more of a clue before I put money into it. Thanks.
