  1. Not wanting to hijack the thread PTS is a great qualification to hold. Yes you need a sponsorship to get the personal track safety. It has to be Arranged by an-approved network rail contractor. It needs to be taken seriously and is not a walk in the park to complete the pass rate Is above average u are Allowed three incorrect answers from each section. Also sorry to be boring but drugs And alcohol have no place on any rail infrastructure. The hazards are intense obviously the Trains the OlE 250000 volts Ac conductor rail 750 volts dc on track Plant the risks are vast. I am very Lucky to work with a highly skilled company that look after their work force and excel in their work within the rail industry. I enjoy the work personally but it Is not for everyone. The forestry arb world is extensively risqué in many aspects introducing rail and electric multiplies the risk by a thousand. Working for a rail approved contractor can be rewarding self employment as a small company would be suicidal and I Would seriously doubt that you would receive a decent contract.

  4. Rare as rocking horse shite in uk however I have bought them off e bay or amazon from the states no trouble. I prefer my long spikes now you get used to them I upgraded my pads to the hydra cool they are a total game changer much more comfortable than the standard pads worth every penny.
