    Thanks Pete I do find it interesting they are very heavy built machines by looking at them it’s a shame they stopped making the walk behind versions, I use mine as a finishing mower but had to change the original front wheels as you couldn’t get the blades low enough to make a nice job. The drive belt pulley is an old spz pulley which is near impossible to find, so may have to cut the metal off on one side to get the bearing out when it fails. Guessing you used to work at bomfords?

    Took her out for the day yesterday, ran all day sweet as a nut no belts slipping etc, again thanks for the input guys. In the 90’s were these these things popular to see out and about working?

    So guys just an update I have changed all the belts more or less, the one the flail deck was the right one but it was ribbed like a cam belt, replaced with the correct v belt, also the bearing set inside the idler pulley was a little rough so I managed to drill the rivets out and split the pulley to replace the bearing which is ideal, the gearbox one seems to work well, had to adjust the clutch cable a little though, now the belt which goes from the engine to the deck is to long, I got what was said in the manual so may have to drop a size or two, the belt that was on it was fine in size so should I go and get the measured so I can get the right one? The rest of the pulleys you can’t remove the bearings so removed the pulleys took off the sealed bearing caps and cleaned and repacked with fresh grease it all sounds so much better when running now

    So the people I ordered the Murray 1245 belt from have just emailed me back to say this is the one I need (MXV5-520 (Inches 52) Megadyne) and gave me a choice of a heavier duty Kevlar one which I have purchased so hopefully now I can relax a little bit until it arrives lol

    Once I eventually find the right ones and it works I’ll buy a couple of sets to keep in the box of spares

    1245 must be the length so hopefully I’m 95 percent there lol!

    Thanks guys I even called a local belt place and he didn’t know either ahhhh! He said is it a flail mower because he’s had people ask before about this size and it seems difficult to cross reference or something, I’ve ordered the Murray 1245 belt and if it fits I’m going to throw a massive party

    The other 2 belts I purchased are “premium quality gates” according to the man on the phone so hopefully they will be alright?

    I’ve found all the belts online apart from one which seems more difficult to find in the manual it says this “ Belt power rated “b” x 1245 I’ve found a belt online (totally belts) which says “Murray 1245 belt” which says it’s suited to mowers snow blowers etc and is shock resistant, very strong etc so now I’m wondering if I’ve got the right one or not?

    Looking at the belts from the parts manual the drive belt I have on there at the moment is 15mm to long so I am very glad to have found this out

    Guys thank you so much! I purchased a parts manual which seems to state the correct belt sizes and have contacted Joe turner engineering and they also sent me the parts manual for free (so a waste of a tenner buying it online), these guys at joe turner are absolute legends! I’m going to buy the belts from them hopefully as they have been very helpful and sure it’ll be better that way incase I get the wrong ones somehow, considering it’s such an old machine it’s still in a great condition it’s more of an ornament really but sometimes take her out if the grass is long and I know there is nothing horrible to hit like stumps and rocks because it’s my pride and joy (how sad lol), I’m very grateful for the reply’s, it will be nice to take her out again this year

    Thanks for reply’s guys, the belts that are on there are matched with what was on there when I got it years ago and they do work ok but have a gut feeling they are not the correct ones (or at least one of them), have contacted turner directly and even they can’t tell me the correct sizes, I’ve got a instruction manual which came with the machine which is rare but it doesn’t say about sizes of belts and last night I managed to find a digital parts manual online out of pure luck so fingers crossed it’ll say something on there when I receive it. Turner engineering mentioned that it’s coming up for its 32nd birthday ( made in March 1992 )

    Hi guys and lady’s got an old turner flail mower which I’ve had for years, finding the right belts can be a bit of a pain does anyone no the correct sizes for this machine please? many thx Irish lew

    Hello everybody, I hope you are all safe and well! Looking at getting the rock venom chipper, (same as Jansen) about 180kg the issue is loading it on my own, I have a tipper trailer Bateson which isn’t too high, but don’t really want to get a hernia pushing it up into there, has anyone here had experience with single handedly loading one of these?

    Hi everyone it’s been a while since I posted, was just wondering if anyone runs the venom chipper from rock machines, I was looking at getting a small deleks chipper (6hp) Honda, just for prunings and clippings, but come across the rock chipper which is 13hp and not a great deal more expensive, but is it a pain to move about and put on and off a trailer on my own? Any experience with either of these chippers please let me know thanks Irish Lew
