  1. Good evening, Trying to find any information on the Echo CS-2800 chainsaw. I recently picked one up from a guy on gumtree who was selling it for spares/repairs. I’m planning on stripping it all the way down and trying to get it working. This is not for serious use, it is mainly for something to do and help me learn a bit about how chainsaws work. Google has been entirely unhelpful. When were these saws made and were they any good? Are they rare and am i actually sitting on a potential entry to antiques roadshow? I’ll turn this over to the collective wisdom of the forums!
  2. I’ll be in Ripon but close enough! Thanks I’ll look him up, just trying to work out what quals I will need to be safe on a site, but not getting too deep into the system!
  3. Evening All, Recently joined the forum. I’m currently serving in the Army and I’m trying to see if there is a way to gain experience in arb on an ad-hoc basis in the North Yorkshire region. I am not necessarily looking for people to work for on this forum - so please redirect me as necessary (won’t turn away any contacts though!) but I would like some advice on what I would need to bring to an employer for them to bother taking me on. what qualifications or certificates would be useful for me to have, so that I could actually add some value rather than just making people brews and watching? Clearly that is all experience based, I’m not above making brews while I learn what I’m doing! I’d happily work for free as pay is not what I’m after. I have a background in construction and project management with the Army so H&S and site safety isn’t a problem. I’m a reasonably technically minded individual and I’ve got a decent amount of experience of rock climbing - I know this is totally different however I know the basics of rigging systems. Any advice on what I need or how best to “market” this would be really appreciated. I’m trying to maximise benefit to myself and anyone who is kind enough to offer me the opportunity to gain experience. Thanks, Mike
  4. Hi Steve, I think your referring to courses that you can use enhanced learning credits for? If so I’m aware that they exist however I’m not really at that stage yet. I don’t plan on leaving the army any time soon, I’ve just got my eye on the future and want to start doing something in my spare time that isn’t computer related! My rough plan is to get the quals and training needed to be able to use a chainsaw without taking my legs off and just try and gain some ad hoc experience working at weekends. Getting paid for this work isn’t an issue so I just want to get the quals where I could be a useful hand on site and gain some practical experience rather than just making brews!
  5. Evening all! I will probably make some separate posts in the proper forums but thought I’d start with an intro! Currently serving in the Army and I’m looking to start picking up some of the basics of this industry - initially just looking at personal/hobby use of a chainsaw for woodworking projects, but I would be very keen to get unpaid weekend experience in the wider industry as this is something I would like to consider as a job once I leave the forces. Any advice or letting me know the best places to look on the forums would be greatly appreciated! Mike
