  1. Thanks for the pointer Richy, I'm on the case!
  2. I should add also, I would be interested in hearing for both employed or self employed roles.
  3. Good morning, I have spent the last 10 months shadowing an Arborist in Hertfordshire but I am due to relocate back to Devon from the end of this year. My duties to date have included working on the ground, clearing, chipping and engaging with customers (primarily domestic work) as well as climbing, dismantling, basic rigging, basic pruning and fairly simple takedowns (including climbing on spikes and most recently using the 440). I have also carried out a small amount of simple felling and have done an extensive amount of hedge cutting, including everything from small box hedges to very large conifer hedges (and a LOT of laurel!). I do not currently hold any tickets but I am in the process of figuring out how to fund these. I do not hold a towing licence, but again I am eager to obtain one. I am 28, hard working, punctual and reliable, a good team worker and curious and quick to learn. I have extensive previous experience in customer service environments, so I am professional and courteous with clients. I also come with a good sense of humour, which I have quickly learned is essential in this line of work (especially with British summer weather). Currently I come equipped with my own harness, carabiners, chainsaw trousers, helmet and 3.2 Isuzu Trooper. I am eager to continue my learning and development and would thrive as part of a growing business. If you would be interested in discussing any possible opportunities in the Devon area (I am based near Okehampton) please give me a call/text/whatsapp on 07957657800 or drop me a message here. Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully I'll hear from you soon. Ben
  4. Hi all, first post but I've been reading for a while now. 28 year old newbie here. Took a change of career when the option presented itself at the start of the year moving from retail/sales to working with my uncle (an arborist since the late 80s, one of those crazy 50+ but still climbing sorts) with the intention of learning the trade as a climber. Now 9 months in and my position with him is due to end at the end of the year because of location (currently travelling from Devon to Hertfordshire and back every week and the missus and mini-me are a bit fed up of it. Considering what my next steps should be and have been thinking about the fast track course with Kingswood as it seems to be well priced and reputable. Have read previous posts about this and the opinion has always been 'get some experience first'. Obviously I have been getting some experience so I'm curious if this would be a well recommended next step. I would ultimately like to work for myself and if working as an employed person I would only want that as a short term solution. Just looking for thoughts and feedback really, sorry if I've rambled! Ben
