I've had flywheels jam solid if a piece of wood manages to get between the outer edge of the flywheel and the wrap..
It can take something like a scaffolding bar to turn it to free it off.
Thanks, that does seem like the most likely thing. I'll give that a try.

On a related note: The flywheel has jammed on my Farmi CH160 and it's locked solid. Put a long, about 3" pole through (not excessive) and the butt of it stuck. Managed to get that loose and there's nothing obviously obstructing the flywheel (usually if there's a lump in there that you can't back out, you can turn the flywheel by hand and shave it down if necessary!).
It's PTO driven from a 45HP tractor. Not a PTO issue but the belts just slip when I try to run the chipper now, and the flywheel won't budge, even with a bit of 'persuasion'.
Could the bearings have seized up when in use? I bought it second-hand about 6 months ago, but it's done less than 10 hours since then. Or is there a way of getting into the intake chamber to see what's going on beneath the flywheel?
Thanks!

PM cornishwoodburner on here, he hasn't contributed recently, he hires in big chippers to process his 3000 tonne per annum requirement so may be able to suggest tying in with his contractors. He's just NW of Plymouth
Ideal, thanks very much.

Anyone know of someone with a biomass standard chipper (G30 or G50) available to hire with operator in Cornwall/West Devon? Ideally as far West as possible as I'd need them to chip for about an hour every six weeks (ca. 36 cubic metres at a time), so don't want to be stung for travel costs.
Thanks.

Thanks Jase and Pete - brute force and persistence did the trick. A knotty bit was jammed between the wheel and the casing.
