  1. I’m no mettalurgest but as above and something as reacted with the alloy. Yes the anodising does protect the metal underneath but I’ve got alloy crabs and rings on harnesses where the finish has worn off and have a polished finish but they’ve not broken down like the alloy in the phots. I’ve seen motorbike rims and alloy parts that have broken down when exposed to wet/ damp conditions but for years. Not months? One thing for sure I would have stopped using that harness a long time ago and sent it back to the manufacturers?

I don’t think the gazebo cut in run in the chinos was part of the initial plan!  😂

P.S. I know that's not a walnut. There was one close by. It was years ago. I've basically got Alzheimer's.

Don’t really see the point of this procedure? Just creating a problem. If the trees going that direction why not just remove pergola first. Far less effort and safer?

Footage has emerged of Clapham chemical attacker Abdul Ezedi being given an aparent Muslim...

🤷‍♂️what a joke, hopefully the mugs who assisted him feel some shame. At least the taxpayers don’t have to feed him now which is a result as far as I’m concerned.

He did convert to Christianity? They gave him £25 every time he turned up for bible lessons🤔, who wouldn’t if it helped hoodwink the Immigration morons and of course the Christian’s who thought they had converted him!

Can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear lad “ as my dad would say , whoever has done it has made the best out of a bad situation, the stems are too big on the first place to be layed.

    Agreed.
However there are some pleachers of a reasonable size with some length. Cut the bigger stuff off at ground level. Lay the live pleachers and import some filling material to thicken the hedge up and fill the gaps. Then there would be new growth from the pleachers and the stumps? The best option would of been to cut the lot off at ground level, plant the gaps up with some quick, stock proof fence both sides. Keep on top of the rabbit population and come back in 10- 15 years to lay properly. The problem is high cost?

I presume that its the crank bearing that is shot and not the clutch bearing. If so I haven't seen or heard of any 500I's with that issue.

Its going to be a costly repair but if the rest of the machine is OK then I think that its worth repairing it.

He says the play is on the clutch side so presume it’s the crank bearing behind the clutch. With a new 500i at £1300 plus it’s got to be worth fixing.

  7. Ran transit tippers 20 years ago and they served me well. Then went Land Rover and trailers as client base changed. They’re definitely not as reliable as transits though😳. 10s of thousands of builders can’t be wrong and why do you think ikies run them - they want something that’s 100% reliable as a stealth truck and a get away vehicle 🤔.

  8. I admire your ballsy way of working. By 3 phase I presume you mean 11 or 33kv lines? Your local network must know you really well to give you the go ahead to clear trees that are “growing up through the power lines”. Expect them to come back to you to take on a lot more because you’ll save them a fortune from having to do shutdowns?

  9. What year is it? If it’s a  later one shouldn’t the end of the Spline Drive Bottom Roller you’ve pictured there finish flush with the outside of the roller box? This then allows the motor splined shaft go all the way into the drive roller? With a small section green plastic spline bush sat between the roller box and spline drive? Has it been rebuilt recently? Are the top and bottom roller mixed up on reassembly at some time because it doesn’t look right which I’m sure you’ve realised.

I confess I'm not enjoying perusing the internet looking at then enquiring after machines.

Available mewps in my price range are spread far and wide, Italy, Germany, low countries with very few in France.

Does anyone have experience of the Easy Lift 18 and 19 models?

I was wondering about the differences other than a mere metre.

Also, what length plant trailer would be best?

        Cheers

           Stuart

At least being where you are- you can jump in the truck with a trailer on and collect a platform from all these countries without getting stung for tax on top and high delivery costs like the UK😳

They get their supplies mainly in pellet form from diseased softwood trees from the USA and Canada,     none the less chip demand in the UK is leading to a shortage in timber for firewood use.

That’s all a load of bull! Reports last week that they were clearing ecologically important forests to feed the Thanet and Drax hunger for Canadian wood🤔. Only a matter of time before the supply chain from there is turned off and the government and general public wakes up and realises that’s the whole project is only viable(to investors) because it’s financed by public money - our money! The government as finally realised that gas power stations are a must because they can be turned on and off to meet electricity demand surges unlike wind and solar.

Yep, that’s about the bones of it.

The only thing to be careful of is when you get further along the trunk, enough for the top to sit straight in the ground and then it’s anyone’s guess which way it’ll fall.

Bit of common sense will see you through though.

That’s all well and good Mick? The problem comes when you do a search for a “common sense” video on YouTube 🤔

  13. Made more fuss about this tree locally and nationally than the 15 year old lass that was stabbed to death just up the road in Hexham earlier in the year😫. So it’s appeared in a few nice photos over the years but only important to those who’ve appeared in, or have taken the phot. The trees only really reached notoriety since it was cut down. If it hadn’t most of us wouldn’t of known it existed. It’s changed the landscape in an area 200 mts square. There’s woodland being taken out all across the country that often changes the landscape from 10miles away? Do we shed a tear - no! The cost of cleaning it up must of run into thousands, they could of given it to a local for firewood on the proviso they cleaned it up and didn’t knock anymore stone out of the Italian blokes wall🤔

  14. Unfortunately, the litmus test for the requirement of refreshers is an incident/ accident and then the HSE and insurance company’s will make their thoughts known on whether it was required or not. It’s all part of the trials and tribulations of trying to operate with hands tied behind our backs?

  15. With out knowledge of joists spacings, span etc it’s difficult to make any specific recommendation? 6 x 2 joists(you say rafters?) arn’t that strong. The combined weight of the stove, slate hearth, plinth construction and firewood could be enough to flex the joists and tension any joints in the flue causing leaks. I would look at some steelwork underneath the plinth construction and in your case get some advice off a structural engineer, HETAS installer.
