  1. Hi guys. Anyone have experience pricing up night shift work? I've been asked to quote on some road closures work that has to be done out of hours.

I want to be competitive but not undersell myself. Is time and a half too cheep?? Or is double time too expensive??

I'll be providing all the kit, chipper, ect ect

  2. Hi guys,

What's people's experience with the newer type of adjustable heads for the long reach trimmers?? I've heard some people say that the metal is very weak and breaks easily?

I've found a few second hand older style ones on eBay (more of grey metal rather than newer white ones) but still going to paying near £200 for one.

Am I better off just buying a new trimmer?? I've used an echo long reach and was impressed with it, especially how sharp the blades stay!!!

  3. Serial numbers are all intact and the chap seems genuine so no alarm bells at the moment.

He said the machine has been sat around for a few months without use (it did have a thin layer of dust when I first turned up) so has me thinking it's something fairly simple to fix

  4. Hi guys, went to look at a chipper the other day. It's 2018, tidy body work, only 350ish hours and looked like it would be a good purchase. Took some 6" logs to give it a good run and seemed to chip fine (the battery was dead and had to jump it). Went to restart it to check running from hot and nothing when key is turned, but you can hear the fuel pump (?) Ticking away)

I walked away from the sale and the chap said he would get someone to have a look at it and get back in touch when fixed. Is it a case of the battery being flat?? Or something else? When not attached to jump leads nothing would happen at all (no heater plug light, fuel pump ect)  The chipper is really tidy and local to me so would be great if it wasn't a serious problem but I would have thought it would start all the time when attached to a jump pack???

  5. The chainbrake on my 260 is not working anymore and doesn't bind tight on the clutch when engaged. When I stripped it down I noticed that some of the metal casing that a part of the mechanism sits in was sheared off. (Sorry a little difficult to explain). I've attached some pics. Would this be the cause of the faulty chain brake? I've changed the band and clutch and still slips.
