  1. Thanks for the response. That’s great, it’d just be for the extra help when the tractor has lost all traction rather than for actually moving around with. This sort is the only one available for my trailer and I’m not in the position to upgrade the whole thing just yet. Do they help when it’s loaded right up or is it more just to get yourself out when empty? I’ve seen them on one trailer but I don’t think they matched the tyre treads properly or the tyres were too worn as they just seemed to spin on the tyres rather than actually drive them.
  2. I’ve got a ten ton forwarding trailer that we use behind our Valtra. On a few of our sites recently there hasn’t been any option other than uphill extraction but as it’s just a drag trailer I’ve had to either take smaller loads or wait until the ground dries up. There is the option to add the cage type of drive system to the trailer but I’d like to hear from people who have used them first, how effective are they in the real world?
  3. Thanks for all your help. It turned out the pipes were hooked up right but one of the connectors on the tractor was dodgey, swapped it over and it works fine.
  4. Haha, no worries. It was delivered with a locking pin but we took that out.
  5. Yeah in other valtras I’ve been in the crane has to be off to use the drawbar. Tried it both ways on here but didn’t have any luck.
  6. Cheers for your responses, as you can probably tell I’m new to this side of forestry. It doesn’t work in the left hand two. One ram on the drawbar will extend if just one is piped into that side but it doesn’t when they’re both in. I’ll give those ones by the wheel arch a try tomorrow. I didn’t want to keep guessing and damage something.
  7. A bit embarrassing but I’m having a bit of trouble working out which pipes go where. I’ve just got a BMF forwarding trailer to go on the back of our valtra 6600. I’ve got the crane working from the right hand two connections (only one plugged in on the photo) and the brakes sorted I’m just having trouble with the steering drawbar. Should it not go into the two left hand connections as they are in the second photo?
  8. It’s best to get a new exhaust put on. I’ve had it happen to two 550’s, on one it made no difference and it lasted for years but on the other the bit of baffle that had come loose eventually worked its way back through the exhaust port and ruined the cylinder.
