  1. Hi J thanks for the input, I will be talking to my client next week and will discuss this option if we cant find any suitable larch. Do you know what the rate / ton is likely to be ?
  2. Hi all, I am looking to source some Larch saw loges in the next month or so. I would be interested to hear from anyone who is harvesting or due to start soon, these are quite large the lengths range from 10m to 7m with a average under bark dia of 300mm probably about 27 ton and all hand felled for a log cabin build.
  3. I build hand scribed log cabins, Yorkshire Log cabins. Have a look at www.log-cabin-builders.co.uk I have several designs that might fit the bill.
  4. The secret to waterproof concrete is to use a smaller amount of water in the mix but the problem in that is it does not flow well when poured, so a plasticiser is used, company's that specialise in it will send one of there staff to monitor the mixing to ensure the correct ratio. It's all to do with how the crystals form in the cement as it cures the smaller the crystals the more waterproof the cement is. More water produces more heat and therefore bigger crystals.
  5. I had this problem on mine and from experience air will be getting in from the tank where the metal bent pipe comes out of the tank, a tiny hole smaller than a pin hole. If the top of the tank looks wet or damp with diesel then look there first. It's a negative pressure delivery system so any air in the loop causes loss of fuel in the filter hence hard to start or cutting out while driving. Clean the rust off the bent pipe and mix some chemical metal and seal the hole, it will be too thin to weld.
  6. Hi All, This is my first confession I'm looking to source 50 no Douglas fir with a average under bark diameter of 30cm and 7 meters long hand felled. If anyone has or knows where there is any in the yorkshire regions or slightly further, I would be interested.
