  1. Ok, I have a mate whose house has this line of HC and they, of course, have this leaf mining thing. They lost one recently and I went over to have a look. The fallen tree has a bracket fungus presumably a Ganoderma (picture attached) There is one behind it that is rotten and I took a pic of this which I'm guessing is just a dead wood eating sort. Here's my question, do the great and the good think this leaf mining moth has weakened the tree leaving it vulnerable to this fungus. None of the other 14 or so have any brackets. Thanks in advance. Mick Ps I'm not charging him for this and have told him that a proper "qualified" sort may come up with a different view to mine. Unlikely though that the group of people who share the drive would pay for that.
  2. How the feck would I know? Re read your post. As for the rest of it, is this the part where we contest who is the most "working class made good" type. Sure, I confess, me and my whole family used to play polo riding unemployed miners instead of ponies, stopping only to quaff champers! We all do down here you know. Good to hear you're still researching my background, seems I've rented some space between your ears. (No shortage of it in there)
  3. Sorry, should have been a ! Instead of a ? Looks like a pita anyway.
  4. Your first post on the subject leaves little doubt that you and your other brother did not receive the education of your eldest brother because of a drop in financial fortune. That wasn't the case, but, whatevs.
  5. Eggs how was it a luxury? How did going to grammar school cost more than a secondary modern?
  6. The more things you have the more to go wrong.(re aspen arb) When I retire I want to live in a new house and have a Japanese car of which I don't even know how to open the bonnet (cos I won't need to)
  7. Grammar school didn't cost any more than a secondary modern, ie it was free, not a luxury. He just passed an 11 plus exam.
  8. Don't quote for a thin and deadwood, just a removal. Price depends on how close you can get the truck/chipper.
  9. I think they are cyclical, they have years where they seem to be everywhere, then they'll have a few years of relative quiet.
  10. I reckon every second day I disturb a nest of turtle doves or more rarely woodys. I'd like to get down and leave them but it's simply not going to happen. How much do you reckon that cost you?
  11. That's habitat that is! None of you peeps even care about bugs an stuff? Birches can be heavily topped, but they do get rot pockets so on the next time they often need re-lowering (below previous) or taking out. Better than no tree at all for many clients.
  12. I think being a employee on the public payroll would lead them to being very careful about identifying themselves and what they write on a public forum. Or maybe they just go home and leave work at the office, no harm in that. Anyway what's all this "passionate" nonsense it's not Masterchef.
  13. You're not doing it any harm, for all my bold talk I'm going to do mine tomorrow!
  14. I'm 51 when I was at school we were expecting nuclear war, I remember one of my teachers telling us that during the Cuban Missile Crisis they seriously thought it was days away. They'll always be something. There's plenty of news outlets that share a lot of your views. Nobody really thinks we are the "goodies" maybe less bad, and let's not forget they're the ones sitting on our oil!
  15. Not disputing it, had mine 12 years now. So can't be neglecting it too badly.
  16. Does that Rayco model have the magic eye? Is that what the hat is doing?
  17. I'm glad you said that Pete! I don't think I've changed it in a decade on my TW. I was sort of under the impression (like with my grinder) that after an initial 50 hour oil and filter change, presumably for any small pieces of scurf from pumps etc, it'll be good for a long, long time.
