  1. Me too, I have 3x201s and the battery Husky, they are all just back ups to the 2511. You still at it full time? There was talk of you going in more with your wife’s agency thingy.
  2. I was using the grey one because it was easier to clip the biner through. I rarely stow the saw, just slide the lanyard through my fingers after a cut and move around with it loose. (I know, just never got into the habit) Anyway one day I was sliding it through as usual and the grey loop broke and down it went. Luckily it speared into some wet earth, no damage. Great saw, very poky, Mark 1s were a bit fragile though.
  3. Yes, but the grey loop (which is for stowing the saw on your belt presumably) won’t hold the saws weight on its own (guess who lost one out of the tree!)
  4. Not as your primary attachement for the saw though? It’s not strong enough.
  5. Re. Your first paragraph. When you say easily matches in some areas and outperforms in others. What are these areas?
  6. Chopped in the 8.4 for a 9.5, not going to use it in anger till next week, but playing around in the yard confirms, it loves to lift!
  7. Maybe baby siths, they can be problematic, especially if you have more than one.
  8. Pomme de terre en robe des champs apparently, literally potato in its field dress. Rather charming I thought.
  9. I have one of these battery saws. Thats a pretty fair review imo. Switch to another guide bar though, those tech lites are made of cheese.
  10. Could be! Try translating “you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear” to French and watch the look of utter bewilderment in the eyes. You can imagine their thought processes “I thought we were talking about trees, now this lunatic has started on about pigs ears and whatnot, the man is deranged!”
  11. Does But in real terms that makes zero difference to the tree if the arisings are useful or not.
  12. I did a bit of research Les, and it seems that the closest is “ne pas être un poulet de l’année” which means (I think) not a first year/this years chicken. I quite enjoy finding the equivalent sayings in French, it reveals the similarities in the human experience.
  13. “I’d do it myself but the wife won’t let me” “it’s easy won’t take you long” ”can you cut it below ground level?” “I’m on a limited budget” (then you definitely called the wrong bloke) I know this thread is old but check it out..
  14. Well don’t do a @Pete B on us and leave us dangling too long, or things will get ugly round here!
  15. I don’t go for the theory that a new motor puts people off. Rather it lets people know you’re serious about the job, and that (in theory at least) you’re good at it.
  16. I think @Ty Korrigan had a similar issue with that Briggs&Stratton engine, I’ve sent out the bat signal.
  17. Will it pay for itself? Probably not. But you’ll have a tax deductible, smart motor, that’s under guarantee, starts on the button, plus you can sell it to yourself for buttons in 5 years, then flog it and trouser the lot. But not everything in business is about money, the pleasure in owning a swish new truck is difficult to quantify. I say go new.
