  5. Hello all, Like many I am on the job hunt; in January I lost my job in property sales which was somewhat of a blessing making me realise I am not cut out for the office. Since then I work on a local estate and a Special Constable for the police. I am 23, have a Business Degree under my belt and keen to find any sort of labour/experience in tree work, landscaping etc but having gone down the academic route I am struggling to get my foot in the door. Aswell as the estate work I am some what green fingered having been brought up in a farming/shooting/outdoors environment and not a stranger to hard work. I also do a bit of lawn care, small tree removal using tirfor winch, hedging, strimming, fencing, allotment/glass house growing etc on evenings and weekends locally for residents just by word of mouth. I have enrolled as of September 2015 on a level 3 Arb course which will be 2/3 days a week and keen to get stuck in. Odd days, low pay and the jobs you don't like doing if needs be. Anything considered Im based between Doncaster and Scunthorpe. Willing and able to travel. Feel free to get in touch. Many thanks, Lewis
  6. Hello there interesting reading! I am indeed one of those looking at benefiting from such training. Im 23 with a Business Degree; gone up the route of office work in property sales but with roots in the outdoors and being hands-on I'm currently looking at options to enter the industry and do something I truly enjoy. Either with local college Riseholme/Bishop Burton or existing firm; the trouble being I don't qualify as an Apprentice due to my qualifications. Will keep an eye in here!
  7. Where in Lincs is this please? Ferrets available but might be too far. Being in the garden too do your clients mind a few holes being dug in their lawn..
  8. Hello all, I've been sniffing around here some time now; decided to register and see if i can pick up some experts advice. I am looking for an opportunity to enter the world of Arboriculture having been applying for traineeships, apprenticeships and contacting local firms outright. Based in North Lincolnshire between Scunthorpe/Doncaster I have quite a varied background: I'm 23 have a Business Degree, Estate Agent and Special Constable for Humberside Police. A personal background in pheasant shooting, farming, fishing, allotment growing etc. Making extra income buying and selling at farm sales (dell boy) and offering garden maintenance, lawn care and small tree and stump removal using Tirfor winches for local residents. The problem I face is being considered 'over qualified' but being keen to get stuck in and learn and build a career around something I have interest in rather than sales and office work is my ideal. I have looked into obtaining the basic tickets myself but would rather be working even just doing the fetching and carrying before I invest in these. Any advice or info as to how I can break in, locally or not is greatly appreciated. Lewis.
