Hi all / to anyone who reads this. I need to make this post to warn people about the Austrian arb company 'Baum Chirurgie Saller' based in Vienna. I've seen the name come up on this site before but the posts were old and I want to warn anyone considering working in Vienna about this company and its owner. If you are considering a move over there, do not work for this guy, he is absolutely dispicable, a nasty sociopath and a bully. As is his team leader / sidekick who I won't name. I have spent the last two months working there (now back in the UK) and while the work and places we went to were amazing, Manfred and the team leader made my life hell. I've been in this game nearly ten years so I'm not an idiot yet I was insulted, bullied, unnecessarily repremanded and driven to ridiculous levels of stress. Not to mention lied to and now they owe me in excess of €2000 which I doubt I'll see. Hopefully someone sees this and takes heed of the warning. It's all smiles and goodwill to start with but the mask soon slips and you find yourself working for a tyrant. Trust me, don't go there. I cannot fathom the words to describe how much of a horrendous person Saller is, the man is a wicked crook and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

Hi all, I am currently looking into working in Europe as a climber and I've noticed that a lot of places ask for ETW certification. Is this a necessary qualification to take on if I have City and Guilds tickets? Does anyone have experience in gaining this qualification and if so, how would someone from the UK go about doing it? Thanks for any info =)

Hi everyone, I'm looking at doing a first aid course to boost the old CV. I thought I'd shoot the question here: Is there a specific first aid course that is geared towards arb work or will a general 'first aid at work' course do the job? Thanks for reading.

Hi there, I have visited quite a few countries in my life and I have to say Holland is my favourite, however I can't seem to find any Dutch tree surgery companies on line. Does anyone know any or anything about the industry over there? I assume there are tree surgeons there because people have gardens and the place is very well kept. I am a UK resident but I would love to move there to live and climb. Thanks!

Hi all, unfortunately my last company (Bartletts) has made me redundant. I worked for them as a climber since November last year and I have been climbing since June 2015. I have the following tickets: CS30, 31, 38 & 39. I also hold a full driving licence and Lantra Chipper Award. I have my own PPE and will have own climbing kit/saws in a month or so - still saving the pennies. Cheers!

Hi there, I have attained my climbing tickets as of June 2015 and have been climbing since. I am currently thinking of the future and surveying / consulting seems to be the way forward when I begin to slow down later in life. Does anyone have any recommendations of where would be a good place to start? Some folk have mentioned doing a foundation degree but I'm unsure where would provide such a course that I would be able to undertake on line as moving for the sake of a course would be a bit challenging. Hi, I am strongly considering making a move to The Netherlands in a couple of years, I was just wondering if anyone could give advice on how to find jobs out there as a climber? Hi all, I work for a large tree company in Manchester, UK. I'm current working as a groundie, taking my climbing course in April. I want to ask if anyone knows the age limit for someone looking to climb in New Zealand? I'm currently 27 and a couple of guys have told me that I need to hurry up if I want to stand a chance. Is this so? Or are people over there more concerned about skill and experience? Just looking for some advice from business owners over there or anyone else who might be in the know. Hello and good day to anyone who reads this, I am currently working for a tree firm in Manchester, UK and I currently hold my chainsaw maintenance, cross cutting and felling of 380mm trees tickets. I am 27 and planning to do the tickets required that will allow me to do aerial rescues and use a saw in the tree in the coming months (waiting for the weather to improve a bit). Ultimately my goal is to get a job as a climber working abroad, preferably in America or New Zealand. This leads to my question to the forum: What is the best route to take for this plan? Also, am I too old already? I have had a poke around on the site and so far it seems to me that companies prefer people with 2 years experience as a minimum. Could anyone advise what else would be a good thing to have on the old C.V. that would make me attractive to foreign employers? Thanks in advance everyone.
