  1. Thanks for the replies, much appreciated!
  2. Hi, I'm about to put together a Norwood HD38. Its going under an existing shed, but the floor of the shed isn't level. It not a significant incline and if I follow the lay of the land it will be down hill during the cut. My question is will it matter that the mill isn't dead level? The land adjacent to the mill is the same so when loading a log with the tractor forks it will be 'level' with the mill if I follow the lay of the land. It will take more effort to pull the head back to start a new cut but I assume it will be slightly easier through the cut with gravity helping. Thanks for your time.
  3. Hi Andy,

I'm looking for a mill and considering the Logosol 751/1001, would you still recommend, or have you had your head turned? Thanks

  10. I think milwaukee do a drill hawg but its only 18v, not sure if it will have the torque of the makita; its got 136Nm in low gear
  11. https://www.honeybros.com/Item/GRCS_Winch_Driver_Bit I had the adapter for a while, I had tried it with an 18v drill and it didnt have the torque
  12. Ended up buying the makita and its fantastic; smooth, massively powerful and just so easy. Just have to be careful as there isn't the feed back you get when using the handle.
  13. Hi, anyone used a battery powered drill for running a grcs or other winching bollard? I was looking at makita 36v right angle drill (as ive got the batteries). Any one got any experience of using one of these? Thanks
  14. Evening all, ive got a ppt265 which recently developed a fault; it wont start without full-3/4 choke and will only tick over at about 3/4 choke. I have changed the plug, stripped and cleaned the carb (zama k89) and put a new carb kit in it. In the carb kit was a small metal ring, only a couple of mm's. I couldn't see where it went, could this be the problem?? Any ideas? Thanks for your input

  19. How is the Trak met going? Was the dual speed splatter worth it? Is it difficult to sharpen the saw chain on the bar? Thinking about buying one myself... Any advice greatly received

Not sure about the dual speed as not sure what the single speed is! cutting large diameter wood it returns before I can cut another block so that's good and changing chain to sharpen, I've found easier to sharpen chain in workshop! I bought 3 chains with machine only takes 5 mins to change and 1 chain can last a whole day but I often put a sharpened chain when I stop at lunchtime.

For the money you cant go wrong I bought the semi-automatic, duel speed with oil cooler and hydraulic blade lift and an 8-way knife and was about £13500 plus vat this included a large log deck there are a few issues that they need to address but only when cutting logs 550mm long and 18" diameter I have upto now cut and split mainly oak and the knife isn't beefy enough I would recommend the 6 way knife as the splitter is extremly powerful 25t and the 8way knife flex's A Lot! but only on long and large diameter blocks. For smaller blocks it's very good for the money for a well-known splitter you could be paying £10-15,000 more for the equivalent machine & deck I've just bought a posch logfix S firewood cleaner Ive not set it up yet but should take out a lot of small wood & bark I live in Herefordshire you're more than welcome to come and play with my trak -Met machine my mobile if you wanted to ask any questions is 07990806038.

  20. Hi Big J,

See you've got a trak-met processor. Any update on the machine review now you've had it a while? Any feedback greatly received as i'm thinking of getting one. i would be using it for arb arisings so not forest grown stock, thanks.

      Big J

It's really good. I've got the semi auto version and it's quick and relatively problem free. Arb arisings are always going to be tricky due to their size and lack of straightness though. It works best on 30-35cm pencil straight softwood and will do a cube in less than 10 minutes if cut small (sub 25cm) or less than 5 minutes if cut larger (45cm).

  24. Its got the antler type controls on the spool block. Pain to get on and off the tractor. I have them on a bracket onto the toplink which is ok until you want to put the crane on the 3PL. Have you got the Farma yet? I had a 8t farma with the 6.3 G2 crane which was a lovely machine but just not enough lift for me. I still wish I had the grapple from it tho which is better all round than the KTS.
  25. Ive got a KTS 6.7 on a 10 ton. Good crane and trailer but the grapple lets it down; its not got enough power to match the crane. Also the trailer picks up quite easily when unloaded, a doudle beam would be better. Slewing tourque could be better also. No matter what you've got you will want more reach, bigger lift, more capacity etc. Overall though I'm quite pleased with it for the outlay.
