Great vid, link below to an article on the harvesting

Be good to see the sort of grapple they use on the helicopter

Been very happy with my 175 and other TPs, different level of build quality imo.

Is this up at Ashridge? Have a scrape at the bark under the legions for signs, or LFD test kit.
-
Don't know about OPs saw but I got mine around the same time and it's great, not as flickable as a husky but not what I have it for.

Has any one got pics of a secondary offset base anchor?
Sorry Matt, we just had to have our dog put to sleep so rough day or two, but I have some srt pics to take for some training and will rig up what I mean and do a photo for you.
-
title edit
"this is why no one should like base anchors with a single attachment"
Only takes a minute to put an offset secondary base anchor in above the first whatever you final tip plan is, almost impossible to clatter both of them then, or a lopper elf to snip them both.

Cheers Tom, yes that's my 130 on arbtrader. fraid it's not scruffy yet though Chris! Would do you well though I'd have thought.
-
Julian, you may have tried already but I just use MS picture manager, thumbnail view, select all, then apply compression or resize and save, works ok.

Strapping is really not good at all, quote below from the article
"Elbow braces are crap
In fact, they can cause harm. They reduce pain by [a] offsetting load that would otherwise pass through the offending tendon tissue and warming up the tissue faster, thereby reducing the pain when you start your session. Do you still have the problem? Of course you do. Braces are a big Band-Aid. Additionally, the neighboring tissue often becomes afflicted."

Dodgy Elbows | Dr Julian Saunders
Read this and give the appropriate negative dumbell excercises a good couple of months, then a tens machine if no dice. Note his opinions on straps etc, he is not wrong. Saunders regime has fixed many climbers I know, mainly by understanding what the cause of the problem is. Good luck with it

To go with the 3pl crane I got a trailer built up that has all the bolsters and axle sliding along a central spine (my mate dan pat pending!). You can shove all the bolsters to the end and then put the hitch end and spine under the alpine so it all fits on a 14ft ifor. Obviously not as capable as a forwarding trailer with driven wheels, but not got stuck yet
-
If you're splitting your time between woodland and arb jobs don't discount getting a 3pl crane, I end up using mine a lot more than I would if it was mounted on a trailer.
Also if you're new to silviculture/forestry practice in general, and not working for clients through an agent or forester, a copy of Harts and the FC blue book will help you out more than any particular kit will.

Look good Jon hope they are a success - can you PM me a price on this one..
Type: P 1327-13-1500 / 1-achs
How would you get it to me if I wanted it!
Good point Rob, won't it be a pain being a dealer for us lot down south?
-
Their 10ft, high sided, 3way, 3500kg tipper looks very handy, be interested in prices and what you think after a crawl over them
-
Very impressed with my TP, solid, fast, good throw and chip quality
-
Great photos, if you've not been try and get a kayak trip around the broken islands sorted, really amazing islands just down from you.

Sorry to read about another hit.
Too late I know but getting the little battery easyalarm kit has been good to let me know if anyone is meddling, without them being warned.
Also upgraded wheel clamps to uk made lincmaster ones, which make other options look flimsy.
Don't work for either company, just good kit

Make the angle of the board adjustable, with a 1ft kick board at the base if possible
-
Front steer is still loads more manoueverable than a conventional compact tractor and still has the advantage of independent brakes - get a good snig behind an artic and it can't steer!
Second this, doubt you'd find yourself stuck with front steer and split brakes, also if you want to use the alpine at full speed then front steer is less twitchy.
Check gearbox specs if you want to power heavy implements too.

Sorry to read this Phil, bloody epidemic at the moment. Don't pack up because of them, getting 'measures' in place cheered me up a bit, hope you can get make any repeat visit more unpleasant for them.

Merry Christmas, Your client is asking for a type of abbreviated tariff that would give a decent amount of detail on total volumes, average tree size/volume etc. Unless he is an old forester that particularly wants that method, I'd steer him towards an inventory excercise that would be far cheaper and give a good estimate of standing volume. Where in the SE is the woodland? I suspect a local forestry consultant will be your best bet.

Got the hang of 1:1 with it? and leaving ascender near stem for easy 2:1 return from downwards limb walks? I like the way you can ditch the footloop once in the canopy for 2:1, and aren't having to stick a pantin back on, or sort a neck loop.
-
See if you can get a go on a petzl rig or isc d4 based RAD system. Can use as 1:1 or 2:1 without any re-rigging. Not as fast on the way up as many systems but quick enough, and much less effort if on 2:1. Very smooth work positioning and slack tending, also easy to mid line attach with no risk of dropping the rig.
